Brandon McMillan’s Early Life and Family Background
Brandon McMillan was born in Trenton, New Jersey in the United States on April 29, 1977. He was raised in Trenton with his family members who were involved in animal training. Sadly, there isn’t much information about his childhood as well as his educational history but the professional animal trainer is believed to have received a quality education which has contributed to the massive success he has recorded in his career so far.
As previously mentioned, Brandon was born into a family where their main work is with animals. His father and his uncle are animal trainers and as a result, while Brandon was growing up, he found himself in the midst of different kinds of animals including primates, elephants, bears as well as big cats, just to mention a few.

Brandon McMillan began his career at the age of eighteen when he left New Jersey to Los Angeles to join his uncle’s animal training company called ‘Hollywood Animals’. The company trains and supplies animals such as elephants, birds, reptiles, wolves, big cats, and domestic dogs, among others, to be used in Hollywood films.
He then became the host of the Animal Planet show titled NIGHT in 2009. In 2010, he opened a boarding and training facility outside Los Angeles where he trains service dogs as well as therapy dogs. Brandon’s career has also seen him work as a dog trainer for many Hollywood celebrities including Kate Hudson, Andy Cohen, Hugh Hefner, Ellen DeGeneres, and Ronda Rousey among others.
His Role on Lucky Dog
Brandon McMillan saw his fame rise when he became the host of Lucky Dog. The star was discovered by Litton Entertainment who later hired him to be the host of the CBS Daytime show titled Lucky Dog. The show, which premiered in the fall of 2013, sees him rehabilitate, train, and find homes for previously unadoptable and untrainable dogs.
Following his outstanding performance in the series, he won the Daytime Emmy Award for the best host for lifestyle series in 2015. The show also won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Series in 2016. He has also written a self-help book for dog lovers titled Lucky Dog Lessons: Train Your Dog in 7 Days, adding to his ‘Lucky Dog’ brand.
Beyond the Lucky Dog show, Brandon is also the host of the Shark Week series titled Great White Serial Killer – a documentary series which airs on Discovery Channel.
