What Happened To Her, Where Is She Now?
When Ann joined NBC’s Today in 2011, she took over from Meredith Vieira. The contract was supposed to run for a year in readiness for her co-host contract to expire before 2012. Jim Bell, the executive producer of NBC Today, felt that if Laurer leaves, Ann might become a competitor. So, he commissioned a blooper reel of Curry’s worst on-air mistakes and presented it to a staff member so she could be fired.
Bell initiated operation Bambi with a carefully thought out three-part plan:
1.) Persuade Lauer to extend his contract.
2.) Oust Ann Curry.
3.) Replace her with .
Working with Bell on Operation Bambi were NBC Universal CEO Steve Burke and eventually Matt Lauer, who obviously didn’t like his co-host, Ann. With this well thought out plan, Ann’s atmosphere of professional torture ended with a sack but Bell’s deed began to haunt them.
