Anthony Lynn is the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers and one man known to never give up on his aspirations. Over the course of his career in the National Football League (NFL), he has risen gradually but relentlessly and steadily, up the ladder of football success. Lynn is also a husband and father. Anthony Lynn was born on December 21, 1968. He attended Celina High School, Texas and was an All-Southwest Conference running back for the Texas Tech University where he recorded a total of 1,911 yards and 17 touchdowns on 481 carries. He played with the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 1988 to 1991 and left in 1992 as an undrafted free agent, he played for the Denver Broncos in 1993 and San Francisco 49ers from 1997- 1999. During his time with the Broncos, he won two Super Bowl rings. He retired in 2000 due to a neck sting injury which is a common injury experienced by athletes.
NFL Coaching Career
Anthony Lynn had followed in his father’s footsteps by playing the game of football. He played for the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent and after his retirement from playing professional football, he became an offensive assistant and special teams coach in Denver Broncos in 2000. In 2003, he was hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the running back coach, a position he held for one year until he was switched to another position before leaving the team in 2005 to join Dallas Cowboys as the running back coach.
In 2007, he joined Cleveland Browns as a running back coach and on February 1, 2012, he was promoted to assistant head coach/running back coach for the New York Jets. Lynn was hopeful he would become head coach after Rex Ryan left the team, however, after being interviewed for the position, he didn’t get the promotion he anticipated.
He left the New York Jets afterward and joined the Buffalo Bills as the assistant head coach. In September 2016, his assignment was doubled – he was made offensive coordinator/assistant head coach. In his first game as offensive coordinator, he recorded a 33-18 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
In December 2017, Anthony Lynn was made temporal head coach of the team. He ran a series of interviews with different teams for the position of head coach from 2015 to 2017 including the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and San Francisco 49ers. In January 2017, however, he was made head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers and became the first-ever African American head coach the franchise has ever had since its inception.

Information about his family is scarce in the public news outlet but is it known that his father whose name is given as Donald Wilson, also played football. Anthony Lynn was the first in his family to ever go to college even though he left without graduating to pursue a career in football. Ever since, he has always wanted to go back to school to get a college degree but has been so busy trying to build a solid foundation for his career.
After the Chargers hired him, Anthony Lynn enrolled in an online school and began taking classes. On May 12, 2018, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. During his graduation ceremony, his mother; Betty Jackson, wife, daughter, son, and colleagues were in attendance.

Anthony Lynn was married to Cynda Dawn Hiel but later got divorced. He remained single for a long time after his divorce until March 2011 when he got remarried to Stacey Bell in Dallas, Texas. Stacey is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelors degree in Mass Communication and a minor in English. She has worked with a few media organizations including Fox 8 News before joining up with NBC 4 in New York. Over the cause of her stay with Fox 8 News as a news anchor, she has won two Emmy Awards.
The couple met way back in 2008 and got engaged in 2010. Their relationship from when they met had always been a long distance one. The couple became closer when they both lived in New York. After they got married, Lynn moved to Los Angeles because of his job leaving his lovely wife behind in New York.
Anthony Lynn has two children from his previous marriage to Cynda Hiel. His son is named Anthony R. Lynn Jr. and was born on October 24, 1989, and his daughter, Danielle Lynn, was born December 31, 1993. Anthony Jr has a bachelors degree in Communication Arts and Sciences from Penn State University.
