Who Is Ben Schwartz?
Ben Schwartz was born to a family of Ashkenazi Jews on the 15th of September 1981 in New York, specifically The Bronx. He was born and raised in the Bronx for 11 years before his family moved to Scarsdale.
As a child at the learning stage, Ben Schwartz attended Edgemont High School and graduated in 1999. Perhaps as a way to hedge his bet if comedy fails to work, Ben Schwartz attended University and studied Psychology and Anthropology. He graduated from Union College in 2003.
While not much is known about his parents, especially their names, his father is known to be a former social worker who moved into real estate and his mother, was a music teacher. He is one of two children born to his parents. The other is a sister whose name is unknown.
Career
Ben Schwartz got his career in entertainment started in 2007 when he appeared in the film New York City Serenade and three episodes of Starveillance. Since then, he has worked in multiple projects across film and television, both as a writer and as an actor. Before he got his breakout performance role in 2010 in Parks and Recreation, he starred in films and television projects like Accidentally On Purpose, Happiness Isn’t Everything, Everybody’s Fine, Mayne Street, I Hate Valentine’s Day and a couple others.
He was initially only due to appear as a guest star on Parks and Recreation in 2010, but after his character was loved by the fans, he continued to guest star in a recurring role for five years in a total of 21 episodes. He later got a lead role in 2012 as Clyde Oberholt in House of Lies. The show, which received positive reviews from critics, ran from 2012 to 2016.
As a comedy writer, he has worked for and with different iconic shows in the United States. He has worked as a writer for Robot Chicken, Saturday Night Live and Late Show with David Letterman.
On stage, Ben is known as an improv comic who famously improvised majority of his lines in Parks and Recreation. He is a former performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and is currently a member of an improv group called Hot Sauce.
Ben Schwartz is also a voice actor who has lent his comedic tone to characters like BB-8 in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Dewey in DuckTales, and Leonardo in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He is due to appear as the lead character in a 2019 release of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Outside of writing for film and television, Ben is also a published author. He has co-published three books with Amanda McCall but has only published one.
