Devin Haney is not one of the boxers that many people know right now, but when he said the industry and the true fans of the sports know who he is, it was very true. He is a very hard working professional American boxer who may still be very young but has a good number of accomplishments to his belt including becoming the youngest USBA Lightweight champion.
Bio – Who Is Devin Haney?
Popularly known in the ring as The Dream, the American boxer was born Devin Miles Haney on November 17, 1998, in San Francisco; but it was in Oakland that he was brought up.
He started boxing as a very young kid thanks to his father, William Haney, who is a trainer and boxing manager. To put emphasis on his boxing career, Devin and his father moved to Las Vegas when he was only 7 years old. He attracted the eyes of Floyd Mayweather Snr. who has also trained him.
A national junior amateur champion for seven times, Devin had a very successful amateur career, recording 130 wins and only 8 losses.
While it is in boxing that the drums beat for him, he has not failed to attract some attention to himself off the ring. After and YBN Almighty Jay ended their relationship, the man that Chyna would be linked to was Devin Haney.
With as much as 11 years difference between them, the first serious hint of the two having something was drawn from Instagram when Blac Chyna shared a picture to the boxer that read “Hi Babe”. Devin left a heart emoji in reply.
Before she started dating Devin Haney, the former “Rob & Chyna” reality star who was 30, had just ended a 3-month relationship with YBN Almighty Jay who was only 18.
Boxing Career
Looking at the boxing career of the boxer who has as a mentor and who is a part of the Money Team, Haney has a lot to show for himself thus far. After turning professional at the age of 16, Haney headed to Mexico to start fighting since he was considered too young for pro boxing in the US.
His first fight was in 2015 against Gonzalo Lopez. The Dream ended the fight in the way any boxer would want to end his debut fight by taking out his opponent in a knockout. He maintained the same feat in his second fight against Jose Iniguez just a few days later.
In his third fight in 2016 against Jorge Edgar Sillas, Devin would need a decision to win the match before going on to beat Roman Melendez in a knockout. In the United States, Devin had his first fight against Rafael Vazquez on April 9, 2016, and he emerged victorious thanks to a unanimous decision. The next was against Jairo Fernandez Vargas and that ended in favor of Devin again who took out Vargas through a knockout.
With a win over Mason Menard on May 11, 2018, Devin had appeared in the ring a total of nineteen times as a professional boxer. In the process, he won six fights by unanimous decision while thirteen were won by knockout. In his last 10 fights, he only recorded two wins by decision while the remaining were by knockout. Interestingly enough, with nineteen fights, he is still yet to taste a defeat or settle any match in a draw.
His years as a pro boxer have seen him win a number of titles including the Youth World Championships.
