The saying “jack of all trade and master of none” may apply to some other person but certainly not to South Korean entertainer Ji Suk Jin. Ji, who has been nicknamed “Big Nose Hyung” on The Running Man show is an actor, TV host, Comedian, broadcaster, Master of Ceremony (MC) and singer and believe it or not, he is a master at them all.
Ji is also the host of 2 O’Clock Date – an afternoon radio show on MBC FM4U.
Who Is Ji Suk Jin?
Jin was born in Jungseon, Gangwon, South Korea on the 10th day of February 1966, as Jee Seok-jin. He took on the stage name Ji Suk Jin at some point in his career. He is a graduate of Business Administration from Ajou University.
The Korean entertainer is so secretive about his personal life, so, there isn’t so much information online about his early life or childhood.
Although he kicked off his career in 1992 as a singer, it is his comedy and MC career that gave him the fame and popularity he is proud of today. He was the main host of Star Golden Bell, a South Korean variety show which aired on KBS from 2004 to 2010. Although he left the show in 2009, his style of presentation became one that is almost irreplaceable.
Currently, he is well known as one of the cast members on another South Korean variety show Running Man. He is one of the oldest members on the show and is often portrayed as the weakest link and one who is always left out by fans and guests. Being a TV host, presenter, MC and Comedian didn’t make Ji Suk Jin abandon his love for music. Twenty-two years after dropping his debut album “I Know”, he released a couple of new singles in 2014. In the same year, he collaborated with Club Soul to do a duet for KBS drama My Dear Cat and for Romance for 7 Days, the following year.
He soon released the latter song in both Korean and Chinese versions. The Chinese version broke through boundaries that it was received even in Mandarin-speaking regions and ranked 6th on the Chinese Baidu music charts.
Ji Suk Jin recently became popular for his Chinese song Fairy Tale, which he first performed in 2015 at the Running Man Special Live in Taipei fan meeting. It was such an amazing performance that Michael Wong, the original singer of the song praised him for giving the song a new life. He would later invite Ji Suk Jin to perform the song together with him at his Taipei concert which held in May 2015.
In 2017, he released a duet he sang with Hong Kong singer Bianca Wu, who invited him to record a new Jazz song from a 1998 classic hit duet which was originally done by Francesca Kao and Jacky Cheung. The duo also did the video of the song in Hong Kong and performed it at the Hong Kong TVB annual charity gala show.
Ji Suk Jin is also the host of 2 O’Clock Date – an afternoon radio show, aired daily on MBC FM4U, from 2 pm to 4 pm. Ji has also appeared in some television shows and Series like Happy Together, Strong Heart, Go, Show, Infinite Challenge, Hurry Up Bother, None Summit, Entourage, Real Animal Adoption: Our Family’s Youngest, Thank You, and lots more.

Asides his media career, Ji runs his own business. He has a club named “Club Impala”, which has been in operations since 2012.
His Wife (Ryu Su-Jung), Children, And Parents
Ji Suk Jin has been married to Ryu Su Jung since 1997. The couple met through a mutual friend – . Theirs was love at first sight, they dated for a while before tying the knots in 1997 and have been together ever since.
The couple celebrated their 20 years anniversary in 2017 with a second wedding which was aired on the Running Man show in a special episode titled “Big Nose Week”.
They have a son named Jee Hyun-woo. Jee and his mother Ryu Su Jung featured on the MBC variety show “Real Animal Adoption: Our Family’s Youngest” in December 2013.
As earlier mentioned, Ji is secretive when it comes to letting out personal information, so, not so much is known about his parents. But while receiving an SBS Entertainment Awards in December 2017, Ji Suk Jin dedicated the award to his parents whose health was fast deteriorating. Six months later, (June 2018) his father passed on.
