As a little kid, Joel Pimentel would sit with his grandfather who was a musician and the two would sing. The older man encouraged his grandson to pursue his dreams of becoming a musician, something the latter took to heart. By the time he was 16, Joel had not only followed his dream but had become part of a boy band, , with which he gained fame and landed a Latin Grammy Awards nomination.

Joel Pimentel is a singer and a member of the American boy band, CNCO. He was born on February 28, 1999, into a Mexican family in California, USA.
Even though not much is known about his father, it is known that he is very close to his mother, Patricia Pimentel. The singer was brought up alongside his three siblings – Emanuel, Israel, and Gabriel in California.
While growing up, Joel was not the best in Spanish but he started learning to speak and write in the language when he was 8. This would come to be very important for him when he was trying to make it to La Banda where he is required to be fluent in the language as that is the community he, like others in the competition, were to represent.
Pimental attended Oak Hills High School from where he graduated in 2017. While there, he was popular as the Mystery Student.
Since he was a child, Joel had always loved music and was encouraged by his grandfather who was also a musician to pursue the dream. The two even performed together. When the auditions for La Banda began, his mother heard it on radio and told him, and then he decided to give it a shot.
By the end of the first season of the competition which sought to get talented teenagers and make them into musical stars, he emerged together with Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Zabdiel de Jesús, and Christopher Vélez as winners and part of the CNCO band in 2015.
The band was offered a five-year deal with Sony Music Latin, seeing to the release of its first album Primera Cita in 2016 followed by CNCO in 2018. Both albums topped the US Latin Album Billboard and the Argentine billboard.
The successes of the albums saw Joel and the band winning several awards such as multiple Premios Juventud and Latin American Music Awards in 2016, Billboard Latin Music Awards and iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2017; they got various nominations including for Billboard Latin Music Awards and Latin Grammy Awards.
His Family
For Pimentel, the only thing above music is family. He was brought up in a close knitted family having both his parents around, as well as his grandfather who was not only instrumental in him learning the Spanish ways, but also in his musical journey.
The singer has an elder brother, Emanuel who was born in 1997, and two younger ones – Israel who was born in 2001, and Gabriel, born in 2003. He always shares the pictures of his family members on social media.
Despite his large social media engagement, Pimentel has still managed to keep some important part of his life such as his relationship status away from the prying eyes of the public. Hence, it is not known who he is dating.
