Katie Couric is a well known and very respected American author and journalist. She has been a television host on America’s big three television networks – ABC, CBS and NBC. Katie worked for CBS News from 2006 to 2011, for NBC News from 1989 to 2006 and ABC News from 2011 till 2014. She was not only a Yahoo! Global News Anchor as well but she has also been an Assignment Editor for CNN.
Besides her roles on the television news programs, she also had a syndicated daytime talk show – Katie – from 2012 till 2014. The show was produced by Disney–ABC Domestic Television. She was a co-host on NBC’s Today, a correspondent for CBS’s 60 Minutes and an anchor for CBS Evening News.
She released her book, The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons from Extraordinary Lives, in 2011; and as expected, it turned out to be New York Times best-seller.
In 2004, she was inducted into Television Hall of Fame. Other inductees of the Television Hall of Fame include Lucile Ball, Carol Burnett, Fred Astaire, Bea Arthur, Ron Howard, Dick Wolff, Shonda Rhimes, , Jay Leno and Diane Sawyer.

Katherine Anne Couric was born on the 7th of January, 1957 in Arlington, Virginia. It is understandable where Katie got her writing skills from as her mother, Elinor Tullie, was a writer. She also got her passion for the news from her father John Couric, a news editor and public relations executive. As a news editor, her father worked for the United Press in Washington D.C. and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Katie was raised as a Presbyterian even though her mother was Jewish. She has also been able to trace her lineage, on her father’s side, to a French Orphan who relocated to the United States in the 19th century.

Katie Couric is as intelligent as she is beautiful. The media icon was educated in the Arlington Public Schools system – she attended the Jamestown Elementary School before moving on to Williamsburg Middle School.
For High School, she attended Yorktown High School where she was a cheerleader. Other Yorktown High School graduates include Tom Dolan, Greg Garcia and Chris Nassetta. While at the high school, she interned at the WAVA-FM, an all-news radio station in Washington D.C.
She then studied at the University of Virginia, her father’s alma mater. While there, she joined the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She held multiple positions at the University’s award-winning Newspaper The Cavalier Daily.
She graduated from the University of Virginia in 1979 with a degree in American Studies.

Katie Couric got married to Jay Monahan, an attorney, in 1989. After two years of marriage, she gave birth to their first daughter, Ellie, in 1991. In 1996, a few years later, she gave birth to their second daughter, Carrie.
Unfortunately, her husband passed away in 1998 from Colon Cancer when he was only 42. This pushed her to become a spokeswoman for colon cancer awareness; she even had a colonoscopy on the air in 2000.
In 2001, She lost her sister – Emily Couric, a Virginia state senator – to Pancreatic cancer; Emily was only 54 at the time of her death. This also fueled her campaign of creating cancer awareness.
In 2004, she was the honoured guest of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation fall gala. She was also the Guest of Honor at the first-ever American Cancer Society Discovery Ball, where she was applauded for leadership and efforts in promoting cancer awareness and screening.
In 2012, after a two-year relationship, she became engaged to John Molner, a financier. They had a small and private ceremony in 2014 in her Hamptons home. The two have been together ever since.
