Sandra Lee was born on December 20, 1970, in Flushing, New York. She is of American nationality and Asian ethnicity. Her love for dermatology probably came from her father, Soon Lee, who was a successful dermatologist in his time. There is no information regarding her childhood or high school education; however, it is known that she attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she studied Dermatology. During her time as a student at UCLA, she worked as a medical assistant to an allergist in Downtown Los Angeles. This only helped fuel her passion for dermatology the more.
Upon graduating from UCLA, she opted to attend Drexel University College of Medicine and eventually graduated in 1998. In order to be a practicing dermatologist, she attended Southern Illinois University where she had her dermatology residency. In her usual quest to know more, after the completion of her residency at the Southern Illinois University, she traveled to San Diego where she mastered the art of cosmetic surgery as well as laser and dermatological surgeries. Unsurprisingly, this eventually led her into becoming a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. She also became a part of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery as well as the American Academy of Dermatology.
In no time, she moved to Upland California where she started her lifelong career as a dermatologist. But then, Sandra Lee received little recognition for her works. Things took a different turn in her career in 2010 when she set up an Instagram account and posted a video of herself carrying out a blackhead extraction surgery. The video quickly went viral and as a result, inspired her to set up a YouTube account where she posted another video of herself carrying out multiple blackhead extractions from the nose of a patient. Following the massive view that the video received, she decided to give herself the sobriquet, Dr. Pimple Popper, and as fate would have it, it eventually stuck.
Since she set up her social media accounts to showcase her works, Sandra Lee has risen to heights she never thought possible. She is currently one of the most popular dermatologists in the United States of America and has gone on to appear on several TV shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Doctors, and Tosh O, to name a few. In 2018, she set up her own reality TV series called Dr. Pimple Popper which aired on TLC.
