Although he may not be the best wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL), Will Fuller has come to stay. He has shown great skills which makes cornerbacks have serious fear whenever he is in the field. Fuller is a multi-talented game-changer and a unique playmaker for the Houston Texans of the NFL. Who is Will Fuller?

Will Fuller is a Professional American wide receiver associated with the Houston Texans. He was born William Vincent Fuller V in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 16, 1994. Fuller is the only son among five children born to Will Fuller IV and his wife. He is of white ethnic origin and holds an American nationality. When he was five, he joined the Police Athletic Hockey League in Wissinoming and after a while; his coach told his parents that the young Fuller has a great fit for football.

Fuller attended Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia where he played the position of a wide receiver for the Fighting Cahillites. In his senior year in 2012, Fuller had an outstanding record of eight touchdowns and 57 receptions with 932 receiving yards which earned him the MVP of the Philadelphia Catholic League 4A. He was also ranked 19th best wide receiver prospect of his class as well as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com. After making a commitment to Coach Bill O’Brien of Penn State University for his college career in June 2012; Fuller later changed his mind choosing Notre Dame Fight Irish instead. He attributed his change of heart to the high academic standard and a 98 percent graduation rate of Notre Dame Players.

During his freshman year at Notre Dame, Fuller averaged 26.6 yards per catch as well as 160 receiving yards. The following year, he recorded his breakout season for the Irish having a total of 15 touchdowns and 76 receptions with 1,094 receiving yards. He earned an All-American honorable mention by the Sports Illustrated following his wonderful performance.

In his junior season, Will Fuller had 14 touchdowns and 62 receptions with 1,258 receiving yards and was named to the All-American second-team by the Associated Press. His wonderful performance in the junior year made way for him declare for the 2016 draft thereby foregoing his senior year at Notre Dame.

Professional Career, Draft Profile, and Stats

Being one of the prospects of the 2016 NFL draft, Will Fuller participated in the 2016 National Football League Scouting Combine; finishing top among the wide receivers with 4.32s for a 40-yard dash. During the NFL draft of 2016, Fuller was selected by the Houston Texans as the 21st overall pick in the first round of the draft. He was the second wide receiver to be drafted after Corey Coleman who was selected by the Cleveland Browns.

Starting his first professional career regular season in their game against Chicago Bears in September 2016; Fuller recorded a touchdown and five receptions with 107 receiving yards in the game. In week four of his rookie season, Fuller made a franchise history by becoming the first Texan to have both a receiving touchdown and a punt return in one game. He finished his rookie season with a record of two touchdowns and 47 receptions with 635 receiving yards.

During a pre-season training in August 2017, Will Fuller broke his collarbone which kept him away from over two months. Returning in action for the Texans on October 1, 2017, he had two touchdowns and caught four passes with 35 receiving yards. At the end of the 2017 season, Fuller made a total of ten appearances for the Texans; recording 7 touchdowns, 28 receptions with 423 receiving yards.

Family Life

Fuller came from a working-class family; he grew up along with his four sisters. His father Will Fuller IV is a construction worker while his mom worked as a bookkeeper. His parents worked so hard so they could give Fuller and his sisters a better life. Growing up wasn’t so rosy for Fuller who was the one boy in the midst of four girls. He wasn’t always given the opportunity to speak and that affected his childhood a lot including in his early football career. It was hard for him to make it out of Philly as a football player and the thought of finding a Catholic High School for him meant more money from his parents but then that was a way to go.

 

In addition, going to Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia impacted a lot on Fuller; it helped him maximize his potentials. Fuller’s parents have always wanted the best for their son and they are instrumental in his successes. Also, Will Fuller has a girlfriend named Anna Maria Gilbertson; she is a professional soccer player for the Portland Thorns. Just like Fuller, Anna completed her college career at the University of Notre Dame. The duo has been enjoying a blissful relationship; when Fuller is not on the field of play, then he is with Anna.
