Wiz Khalifa is obviously just a stage name, the rapper was born Cameron Jibril Thomaz, on September 8, 1987 to parents serving in the military. Off the top of our heads we can credit the artist’s ability to incorporate unique techniques of hip hop drawn from social realism, experience, and sharp insight to the fact that he was well traveled and cultured. The nature of his parents occupation had little Cameron on the road very often.
His stage name has quite a fascinating origin story. The word ‘Khalifa’ was derived from an Arabic word and translates to ‘successor’, his Muslim grand dad gave him the name, because to him it best explained what Wiz was doing with his music. On the other hand Wiz is the shortened form of ‘wisdom’, the artist was often referred to as ‘Young wiz’ because he was good at everything he did.
His parent’s marriage ended in divorce when the artist was just 3 years old. Despite being military officials, they were not very strict. The artist admitted that he started smoking marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) a little earlier than he was supposed to. When his parents caught him, his dad disapproved but his mum did not care. Seeing as the habit did not affect his productivity, his parents dubbed it harmless.
Wiz stormed the music industry with the release of his first mix tape, ‘Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania’ in 2005. The mix tape was well received, he was not quite there yet, but he made his mark. It paved the way for his first album, ‘Show and Prove’, this led him to be named, ‘artist to watch’ by the Rolling Stone magazine.
His mainstream success came with the release of his single ‘Black and Yellow’, which was a reference to the city of Pittsburg were he settled in his childhood. When the song was released, his intention was that it would be used as the anthem for the Pittsburg Steelers, a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
So when the Steeler fans embraced ‘Black and Yellow’ as the team advanced to the Super Bowl in February, it was not by accident or by chance, Wiz planned and anticipated it. A few months later, the rapper performed the song before the AFC Championship Game, and the track peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The rapper does not have the conventional, rapper body type, in fact his body type and statistics make him even more fascinating, most especially Wiz Khalifa’s height.
Wiz Khalifa’s Height
Looking at him, the first thing that catches the eye are his numerous tattoos, which make his appearance stand out the more. Wiz is slender and slim with black hair and dark eyes. He makes up for his lack of muscles with his towering height at 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m). This places him in the same height bracket as the ‘Taken’ star Liam Neeson, American football quarterback and former President of the US, Late Abraham Lincoln.
Wiz is also very athletic and has been known to dunk a basketball, needless to say his height is a welcome advantage. Also Wiz Khalifa’s height certainly makes him taller than most of his fellow hip hop artists.
Wiz Khalifa’s Weight And Measurements
The rapper is quite slim and there is a general lack of muscle definition on his body, which we can attribute to his genes. He weighs 82 kg, which would make most fitness experts conclude that his weight and height are proportionate in terms of Body Mass Index (BMI).
