The Englishman, Sir Michael Philip Jagger (popularly known as Mick Jagger) is a songwriter, singer, actor and film producer. He gained popularity by being one of the founding members and lead singer of the “Rolling Stone”- a rock band founded in 1962 in London.

Christened Michael Philip Jagger at birth, the rock and roll legend was born in Dartford, Kent, England on 26th July 1943. Jagger is of both English and Australian descent. His dad, Basil Fanshawe ‘Joe’ Jagger, was a teacher of English descent while his mom, Eva Ensley Mary, who was of both Australian and English descent, was a hairdresser and a member of U.K’s conservative party. Mick’s only known sibling is his younger brother and fellow musician, Chris Jagger.
In 1950, Jagger was enrolled at Wentworth Primary School in Dartford. Shortly after passing the “11-plus” examination in 1954, he got admitted into Dartford Grammar School, graduating in 1961 with 7 O-levels and 3 A-levels. Mick then went on to further his education at the London School of Economics using his government grant. He later dropped out in 1963 to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a pop star.
Young Michael was raised to tow the teaching career path of both his father and grandfather but he had a keen interest in music especially R n B which was stirred up because he was always listening to American musician, Richard Wayne Penniman popularly known as Little Richard. He became an active member of the church choir and an avid listener of singers on whatever platform he could hear them from.
In July 1960, Mick Jagger reunited with his primary school mate and friend, , who also had shared musical passion at the Dartford railway station. In 1961, Jagger met fellow English musician and guitarist Lewis Brian Jones and together with Keith, they moved to London, sharing a flat they rented in Edith Grove, Chelsea. The trio founded the musical group “Rolling Stones” shortly after they started practicing together. The name of the band was inspired by a song by Muddy Waters titled “Rollin’ Stone”.
Mick Jagger has been honored with several awards and accolades following a successful career as a musician. He was Knighted by Queen Elizabeth at her 2002 Birthday Honors and in 2003, he was honored with “the accolade” by Prince Charles. He is an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of fame as well as the U.K Music Hall of Fame. The Golden Globe awardee has also featured in several film productions as an actor and as a producer.

It was reported that the award-winning singer started dating Jerry Hall, an American model, in 1977. They eventually got married in Bali, Indonesia at a private ceremony which took place on 21st November 1990. In 1999, the High Court of England and Wales sitting in London ruled that Mick Jagger’s marriage to Jerry Hall was invalid, unlawful, and null and void thereby dismantling the marriage. The unofficial union produced 4 children.
In 2014, Mick started dating his much-younger ballerina girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, and in 2016, they welcomed their first child together and Mick Jagger’s 8th child.
