Cha Tae-Hyun is a multi-talented personality. His versatility has been expressed in the various endeavors he has accomplished rather successfully. He is a TV personality, entrepreneur, actor, film director, singer, and disc jockey. The 2017 movie Hit the Top in which he featured was the first film project he handled as a director. As an actor, Tae-Hyun is widely known for his roles in movies such as Hello Ghost, Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, My Sassy Girl, and Scandal Makers. Cha Tae-Hyun’s Biography

The versatile thespian began life’s journey on March 25, 1976. He was born in Seoul, South Korea, and his parents are Cha Jae-wan and Choi Su-min. His media affiliations could be traced to his father who worked as an assistant director for the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), while his entertainment gene could have come from his mother, who was also a voice-over artist and lends her voice for movie characters in the film industry. However, he is not alone in the rub off from parents to children as his brother, Cha Ji-Hyun is currently a movie producer.

His high school is not known but he obtained three college degrees. The pursuit of his college degrees was framed by his desire to explore the entertainment and media world just like his parents did. Cha Tae-Hyun obtained his first degree in Broadcasting from the Seoul Institute of Arts. He bagged another in Multimedia Arts from Kyonggi University and the third from Chung-Ang University where he studied Mass Communication. Armed with these qualifications, Tae-Hyun was ready to take the industry by storm.

He began showing his acting prowess while studying as he featured in some commercials and played minor roles in TV shows. He equally hinted at his abilities in the media circles when he took the second spot in a talent contest organized by the Korean Broadcasting Service (KBS). This was in 1995 and Cha Tae-Hyun was 19 years of age.

Career Breakthrough

Cha Tae-Hyun’s career got its much needed big break in 2001 when he featured in the romantic dramedy My Sassy Girl. The movie which also starred Jun Ji-Hyun shot him to the forefront of the film industry. It was a double blessing for him as his first studio album “Accident” was released at the same time the movie was released and as such, the fame he got from the latter helped in the sales of the former.

His acting career took a downturn afterward despite the fame he gained from his performance in My Sassy Girl but it did not stop him from releasing a second studio album “The Book” in 2003. He would come back to reckoning after an impressive performance in the movie Scandal Makers (2008). The movie was a blockbuster hit and as the movie received positive reviews, so did Tae-Hyun to the point that the South Korean advertising industry named him Top Male Celebrity of the Year.

Today, he is one of the most successful entertainment export from the Asian nation. His movies are watched world over and his songs still resonate among his fans.
