An Indian-American ICT guru, engineer cum business executive, Satya Nadella was born on the 19th of August 1967 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. His parents Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandher and Prabhavati Yugandhar were known to have worked in prestigious firms as his father is said to have been a government employee for the Indian Administrative Service while his mother was an Indian Philosophy and Language Instructor.
Moving to his educational details, it is known that Satya Nadella attended Hyderabad Public School and proceeded to Manipal Institute of Technology to obtain a degree in Electrical Engineering. After his studies at Manipal institute, Satya moved to the United States to further his education in Computer Science which prompted him to apply for a Masters degree program at the prestigious University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee from where he graduated in 1990. In addition to his educational portfolio, he received an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
His Career
Satya Nadella began his career with Sun Microsystems where he worked as a tech employee for the company before he joined Microsoft. Upon his arrival at Microsoft, Satya headed various high-ranked projects that were pivotal in Microsoft’s transition to Cloud Computing. This paved the way for him to be made the Senior Vice President of Research & Development for the online service division, and then he was made the Vice President of Microsoft Business Division. As a result of the leadership prowess he showed in the previous appointments, he was made the president of Microsoft’s Server and Tools Business worth $19 billion.
As the president of the Server and Tool Business, Satya Nadella brought Microsoft’s database, Windows Server and developer tools to cloud and he was able to grow income of Cloud services from $16.6 million to $20.3 billion in two years. In 2014, Satya was made the Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft after the likes of founder and Steven Ballmer- who was his predecessor.
It is also known that this tech genius created a working relationship with the company’s rivals IBM, Dropbox, Apple Inc, and Salesforce. More so, Microsoft joined Linux foundation during his tenure as the executive president. Added to that, the company has acquired other companies such as Mojang – a game company based in Sweden that has diverse versions on PlayStation, Apple iOS devices and Microsoft Xbox. Microsoft also acquired Xamarian, LinkedIn and just recently, the company also added GitHub to its long acquisition list.
Sources also have it that, Satya’s strategies result in the company’s stock to increase with a 27 percent annual growth rate, and towards the ending of 2018, he was named the Best CEO in the United States of America.

The Microsoft CEO got married in 1992 to his longtime lover and heartthrob Anupama and their union is blessed with three adorable children – a son and two daughters.
A look into his wife’s background shows that she is the daughter of Satya’s father’s colleague back in Indian and she also attended the same institute as Satya – the Manipal Institute of Technology where she graduated from with a degree in Architecture.

Satya Nadella is a vast reader and enjoys reading Indian and American literature.
