By the time Patrick was 17 years old, he took his brothers (Orey and Tetris) and sister (Ernicka) out of their trailer park home to live with his high school basketball coach Chris Finley and his wife Julie. This was due to their father’s worsened aggression towards them.

While he was in Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School, Patrick Willis earned himself a few titles including; Regional Most Valuable Player, West Tennessee Player of the Year, and a two-time All-State selection.

He also earned three letters in baseball and four letters in football as well as basketball. By the time he was done with high school in 2003, he was ranked in the 60th position as a linebacker and was named a three-star recruit by Rivals.com.

Soon enough, troubles with injuries would take a toll on his career and emotional stability as he first sustained a major fracture on his hand during camp training on the 5th of August 2013.

After a successful surgery, Patrick would later experience a groin injury just after 3 weeks of recovery thus ending the 2013 season with a total of 104 tackles.
