Augustin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 10, 1987. This bloke and his family were victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and they were forced to move out of New Orleans. While he was at Brother Martin High School before the Hurricane, he led the team to two state championships.
Augustin was a much sought after talent from his high school days. It isn’t difficult to see why when you consider his pinpoint passing and precise shooting skill. Right from his first game at his new school, Augustin was endeared to the fans as a talented and efficient player. It wasn’t long before he was getting recognized in various basketball circles, including getting named as a McDonald’s All American at the end of his high school days.

His College Career
Freshmen are not always expected to stroll into a college team, but that was exactly what Augustin did at the Longhorns. The point guard started all available thirty-five games in the regular season and he justified those starts with a return of 14.4 points and 6.7 assists per game. With a form like that, Augustin would have been forgiven for choosing to declare for the 2007 NBA draft, but the young man, however, chose to stay one more year to develop his game further. His impressive first college season brought him a handful of prestigious recognition. He was named by the Associated Press and the Big 12 coaches to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team.
The Beginning of Augustin’s Professional Career
Augustin played for the Charlotte Bobcats from 2008-2012, making his professional debut in 96-79 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, recording 12 points and two assists in 25 minutes. This was after he was picked by the Bobcats in the 2008 NBA draft as the 9th overall selection.
Augustin has played for a number of teams in the NBA since making his professional debut. After moving on from the Bobcats, he signed with the Indiana Pacers. D. J. Augustin made his debut with the side in a 90-88 win over the Toronto Raptors, playing for 15 minutes, he recorded five points, one rebound, and two assists. D.J. also played for the Toronto Raptors, but it was short-lived, with the Raptors waiving him on December 9, 2013.
Augustin then signed with the Chicago Bulls and on the 11th of January 2014, he recorded a season-high 12 assists in a win over his former team, the Bobcats. On March 30, 2014, D.J scored what was at the time a career-high 33 points in a 107-102 win over the Boston Celtics. At the Detroit Pistons which he signed for in 2014 for the 2014-15 season, Augustin scored a new career-high 35 points in a loss to the Toronto Raptors. He played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets before his current stint at the Orlando Magic where he signed a four-year $29 million contract.
