Professional basketball player, Khris Middleton has maintained a steadily impressive run since joining the Milwaukee Bucks back in 2013. A second-round pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, Middleton had a one-season stint with the Detroit Pistons before joining the Bucks. As a student-athlete, he was twice named South Carolina Player of the Year in high school after which he had his college career at Texas A&M University.

James Khristian Middleton was born on August 12, 1991, in Charleston, South Carolina. His parents are James and Nichelle Middleton and he grew up alongside an older sister named Brittney. He is a cousin to former NBA star Josh Powell and a distant cousin to Hollywood actress .

Middleton had his high school education at Porter-Gaud School and was a standout player for the school’s basketball team, the Cyclones. He averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds per game in his sophomore year, which increased to an astonishing 21 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in his junior year. His junior year performance earned him the South Carolina state player of the year honors.

The talented youngster achieved a similar feat in his senior year finishing with 22.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. His performance helped the school reach the state title game and he was named state player of the year for the second time. Middleton also won MVP honors at the Porter-Gaud Holiday Classic tournament and was listed for the 2009 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game, however, he did not make the final cut for the latter.

Khris Middleton chose Texas A&M University for his college career amidst several other offers and signed his letter of intent as early as May 2008. He made 34 total appearances (22 starts) with the Texas A&M Aggies during his freshman (2009-10) season and he averaged 7.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The talented player recorded the highlight of his college career as a sophomore in the 2010-11 season during which he averaged 14.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. For his performance, he was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, the 10-man All-District VII team as well as the All-Eighth District second-team.

Middleton’s junior season was marred by an injury which had him sidelined for 12 games and consequently, his scoring average dropped to 13.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in 20 total appearances. At the end of the season, he announced his decision to enter the 2012 NBA Draft giving up his final year of collegiate eligibility.

Khris Middleton was selected 39th overall by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft. He came off the bench in all 27 appearances of his rookie season and he averaged 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 17.6 minutes per game. At the end of the season, he was eventually traded to the Milwaukee Bucks alongside  and Viacheslav Kravtsov in exchange for point guard Brandon Jennings.

Unlike his rookie season, Middleton got regular playing time as he featured in all 82 games of the 2013-14 season finishing with an average of 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.0 minutes per game. The NBA star retained his starting role in the two seasons that followed even as his productivity continued to soar. He recorded an average of 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in the 2014-15 season and he finished the 2015-16 season with a then-career-high 18.2 points per game in addition to 3.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

Middleton’s steady run with the Bucks got derailed prior to the 2016-17 season due to a hamstring injury incurred in September 2016. The injury had him sidelined for six months missing out of the first 50 games of the season. He eventually returned to action in February 2017, recorded 29 appearances for the remaining part of the season and finished with an average of 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

Khris Middleton had the best performance of his career so far during the 2017-18 season. The NBA star started in all 82 appearances with the Bucks and he finished the season with career-highs of 20.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in addition to 4.0 assists per game.
