Henry Ellenson’s Bio
The professional basketball player was born to John and Holly Ellenson on January 13, 1997, in Rice Lake Wisconsin and they are of North American ethnicity and have American nationality. His father, John, is said to have played two seasons of basketball between 1986 and 1988 at Marquette and his mother, Holly, played basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for four years.
Ellenson also has two brothers and one sister who are also basketball players as his brother, Wally, was a member of men’s basketball and track & field teams at Marquette and the University of Minnesota, Ellwood his other brother played basketball at NAIA Valley City State University while his only sister Ella, currently plays at Valparaiso University.
He completed his high school at Rice Lake High after which he proceeded to Marquette where he recorded 33 starts, scored 17.0 points per game with his rebounds, blocks and assists being 9.7, 1.5 and 1.8 respectively. His fantastic performance for the college basketball team fetched him high honors which included the Big East Freshman of the Year honors and Big East All-Freshmen Team amongst others.
NBA Career
Due to his brilliant performance for his college team, Ellenson decided to let go the three remaining years of college eligibility and announced he was entering the 2016 NBA draft on April 5, 2016, and by June 23, 2016, he was selected by the Detroit Piston. He made his professional debut on October 26, of that same year and recorded two rebounds in two minutes after he was called upon from the bench, but the match ended in a 109–91 defeat against the Toronto Raptors.
Henry Ellenson has also played in the NBA development league with the Grand Rapids Drive which is an affiliate of Detroit Pistons. However, he has been called up and he now plays fully for the Pistons with the jersey number 8. In his two seasons for the Detroit Pistons, Ellenson has played 57 games and has started in 2 of those games. He has also recorded an average of 2.1 rebounds, 1 steal, and 5 assists in that time.
On the other hand, Ellenson’s international career has also been a success and it will not be left untold. In 2014, he played for his national team at the FIBA Under-17 World Championship which took place in Dubai and there he recorded a total of 21 points against China in a quarterfinal match.
