Daniel Jacobs first came into this world on February 3, 1987; he was born in Brooklyn, New York City, in the United States. He was raised by his mother named Yvette Jacobs, as well as his grandmother, Cordelia, and aunts. There’s no information regarding his father or who he is. Afterwards, he signed up with Golden Boy Promotions and later triumphed over Mike Walker to win the junior middleweight title in May 2009 after which he beat Ishe Smith to clinch the NABO middleweight title in August 2009.

The following year, Jacobs continued making strides as he fought with the big names. He competed for the WBO middleweight title after Sergio Martinez was stripped of the title due to his inability to comply with the WBO rules. Although Jacobs put up a good fight; he lost the match after a knockout in the fifth round. He also emerged victorious in his next two fights in 2010 before he was diagnosed with a career-threatening bone cancer. Jacobs went on massive treatment and after nine months, he fully recovered and re-entered the ring.

Upon his return to professional boxing in 2012, Jacobs recorded his first win against Josh Lutheran on October 20, 2012. In 2013, he defeated Giovanni Lorenzo with a knockout in the fourth round to clinch the WBC Continental Americas middleweight championship title. The following year, he captured the WBA (Regular) middleweight championship title after his triumph over Jarrod Fletcher in August 2014. He defeated Peter Quillin and Sergio Mora respectively to defend his title in 2015.

Looking for a more powerful opponent, Jacobs began negotiations with prior to his big fight against  in 2016. The duo later fought in March 2017 and the match took place at the Madison Square in New York City. Daniel Jacobs fought Gennady to a full twelve round but finally lost. Later in the same year, Jacobs signed up with Matchroom Boxing promotions in a bid to show his matches on HBO.

In 2018, Gennady Golovkin who was the current IBF titleholder was stripped of his title following his failure to adhere to the IBF rules. Jacobs is scheduled to fight with the Ukranian boxer Serhiy Derevianchchenko for the vacant IBF middleweight title. The fight will take place on November 10, 2018, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum situated in Uniondale, New York.
