Andrew Luck is a professional American football player who currently plays for the Indianapolis Colts as a quarterback. He played college football at Stanford, leading the team to 3 bowl games. He is a recipient of the Walter Camp Award, Maxwell Award and was twice named as an All-American.

Andrew Austin Luck was born in Washington, D.C., on the 12th of September 1989. Due to the nature of his father’s job, the family lived in different places during his early years. Luck spent his formative years in London, then Frankfurt, Germany, before the family, returned to the United States to settle in Houston Texas.

Back in Texas, he attended Stratford High School, where he started playing the game of football, first as a defensive end and later as a quarterback. By his senior year , he became one of the highly rated high school recruiting target. Scouts ranked him the 5th best prospect in the country and as also one of the top 50 overall high school players.

Rivals.com regarded him as not just a 4-star recruit but also No. 4 pro-style quarterback in his graduating class of 2008. Andrew Luck played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl that year and ended his high school career, he threw 7,139 yards with fifty-three touchdowns and rushed 2,085 yards.

He had offers from schools like Northwestern, Virginia, Rice, Purdue and Oklahoma State, but he chose Stanford over them all and began his college under coach Jim Harbaugh. Luck redshirted during his freshman and returned the following season as the team’s starting quarterback replacing Tavita Pritchard, who held that position the previous season.

Andrew Luck would become the first freshman to hold that position in thirteen years since Chad Hutchinson held it last in 1996. Luck led the Cardinals to several victories that season. He had outstanding records of throwing for 2,575 yards, 2,929 yards of total offense, making him the 5th highest in the history of Stanford, he led the Pac-10 in passes with a rating of 143.5 and also finished 2nd in the Pac-10 in total offense.

He couldn’t play at the Sun Bowl, following a finger injury he sustained during a game against Notre Dame that resulted in a surgery.

The 2010 season was another tremendous season for the skilled QB as he was named as one of the top players in the country, selected to the All-Pac-10 First Team, won the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week award for his outstanding  performance in a game against Arizona and California.and was also named the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year.

At the end of the season, Sporting News projected him as the No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft should he enter for the draft but Andrew Luck rather chose to remain at Stanford to complete his study despite his eligibility. The following season (2011), he led the Cardinals to record-breaking win of11–2, at the BCS bowl. He became a recipient of the Maxwell Award that season and also won the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award.

He also became the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy for the second time in a row that year, becoming the 4th player to finish 2nd in the Heisman voting twice. Luck He was also named a First Team All America by ESPN.com, Pro Football Weekly, AFCA, and Walter Camp.

Luck was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft and he agreed to a 4-year, contract with the franchise worth $22.1 million.

Andrew Luck is the son of Oliver Luck, (a former NFL quarterback who played for the Houston Oilers from 1982 to 1986). His mother’s name is Kathy. Luck is the first of their four children. He has one brother (Addison) and two sisters (Mary Ellen and Emily).

Mary Ellen like her older brother attended Stanford where she played volleyball. His brother studied at The American School, London and currently resides in West Virginia. Emily is currently studying at Stanford.

Luck has been in a long time relationship with Nicole Pechanec. Nicole is also a Stanford graduate and captained the gymnastics team and was named a team MVP as a Senior.
