William Brent Burns was born on March 9, 1985, in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Brent is a Canadian professional hockey player and plays as a defenceman, although at times, he is used as a forward. There is no information on his siblings, parents and educational background but Brent Burns is a graduate of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)’s Brampton Battalion.
Career
He started playing with Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) before he went ahead to play for the New York Canadians of the Greater Toronto Hockey League. Most of his minor hockey career was spent playing for the Barrie Icemen and the Ajax Knights of the OMHA and he also spent two years playing in the Metropolitan Toronto Hockey League (MTHL).
In 2003, Brent Burns played for the Brampton Battalion in the OHL and in the same year (2003), he was drafted to the NHL in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by Minnesota Wild (20th overall) and there, he played seven seasons before he was finally traded to the San Jose Sharks in June 2012 in exchange for Devin Setoguchi and Charlie Coyle.
National Team
On the international stage in NHL, Brent Burns helped his country, Canada, to win silver in the 2008 World Championships as the host nation. He was also named the best defenceman in the tournament. He would later win the gold medal at the 2015 World Championship with the national team.
In the summer of 2016, he also helped his homeland to win the World Cup of Hockey title. At the end of the 2016-2017 season, Brent Burns efforts were rewarded with him receiving the Norris Trophy as the top defenceman. Brent said when he is done with NHL, he would love to either work in a zoo or serve in the military.

Their first child who is a girl was born on March 31, 2010, and her name is Peyton Gabriann while the second child, a boy named Jagger Stephen Patrick, was born on June 23, 2011.
