Sebastian Vettel is a German professional racing driver whose prowess as well as undying hunger for victory have helped secure a spot for him as one of the sport’s great.

Born in Heppenheim, Germany on July 3, 1987, Vettel is one of four children born to Norbert and Heike Vette. His love for racing began as a child, taking a leaf from his father who was a keen racer who competed in various hill-climb events.
Sebastian also had the likes of Michael Schumacher – a German race-car driver, Michael Jordan- an American professional basketball player, and Michael Jackson- an American singer, songwriter, and dancer dubbed the “King of Pop” as his three best idols and by the age of three-and-a-half years, he had already started amateur karting, and when he was eight, he began racing in karts series. He was later moved into the Red Bull Junior Team at the age of 11. There, he began his winnings, starting with the junior titles like Junior Monaco Kart Cup in 2001. While achieving all these, he maintained excellence at school, coming out with an excellent result from Starkenburg Gymnasium in Heppenheim where he wrote his high school leaving exams.
Career
Sebastian’s career began in 2003 when he switched to open-wheel racing, winning the 2004 German Formula BMW Championship with 18 victories from 20 races. In 2005, at the Formula 3 Euro Series, Sebastian was already in the fifth position, winning the top rookie honours. The following year, he gained his first promotion as a test driver for Sauber in Formula One but was still unable to bag the championship.
Despite his winnings and high reputation as a racing prodigy, Sebastian Vettel was unable to go beyond fourth in his first 21 races. Things, however, changed in 2007 when he was confirmed as BMW’s test driver for the year. The following year, he bagged his first win at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix, becoming the world youngest F1 race winner ever after breaking the record set by – the Spanish Formula One racing driver currently racing for McLaren-Honda.
This impressive achievement made by Sebastian – then named Rookie of the Year at the annual Autosport Awards, made the Red Bull to bring him on as a driver for the 2009 season and in the first year, he was able to finish as the youngest-ever World Drivers’ Championship runner-up. In 2010, he became victorious in five races including the penultimate race in the F1 season, the Brazilian Grand Prix and the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. His victory at the penultimate race in the F1 season gave Red Bull its first manufacturers’ championship, while his victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix made Sebastian the youngest driver to win the World Drivers’ Championship. He was 23 at the time. The same year, he was able to follow up his first championship with three more titles, all in succession, becoming the youngest double, triple and quadruple world champion in Formula One.
Sebastian became more confident in himself after winning 11 Grands Prix out of 19, taking pole position 15 times and becoming the youngest back-to-back champion. This went on until 2014 when he encountered some difficulties but later that year, he left the Red Bull team and joined Ferrari to begin the 2015 season. He, however, finished in third place in 2015 and fourth in 2016 with about seven podiums and 212 points.
In 2017, Sebastian maintained his 100% podium success, having won in Australia and in Bahrain and extending his lead to 13 points. He became the fifth man in history to claim 90 F1 podiums and made his 46th overall after finishing 7th in Britain.

Sebastian is also in a relationship with Hanna Prater, his childhood friend. Although the two are yet to officially settle as husband and wife, they have been living together happily. In January 2014, the couple welcomed their first child, a girl whom they named Emilie. The following year, (September 2015) they welcomed their second daughter called Matilda.
