David Perron said he remembered watching Erik Johnson walk up to the stage as the first overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and wondering what it will feel like hearing his name being mentioned too in front of the entire hockey world.
But that dream didn’t come to pass that year but the following year at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Perron was finally able to experience what it felt like when St. Louis Blues, announced his name in front of the hockey world as their 26th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He would later join the Edmonton Oilers in 2013, after spending six years with the Blues, David then played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Ducks before moving to the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017, where he currently served as an alternate captain.
Before his NHL career, David Perron played one season with the St-Jérôme Panthers and another one season with the Lewiston Maineiacs, both teams are of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

He was born May 28, 1988, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. There is no available information about his parents, siblings, early life, background or educational history online.
Career, Stats
Perron began his career playing for the Saint-Jérôme Panthers appearing in 51 of its games, the next season, he played 70 games for the Lewiston Maineiacs, scoring 39 goals and 83 points, during this time, the Maineiacs participated in the Memorial Cup and won the President’s Cup.
His NHL career began in 2007 when he was drafted 26th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. After a successful camp training, he was able to play his first NHL game and by November 2007, he scored his first career goal in the match against the Chicago Blackhawks, while his first NHL hat trick came in November 2009, against the Vancouver Canucks.
After playing ten games and recording five goals in the 2010/2011 season, Perron was unable to play for the next 13 months after suffering a concussion from a high check from Joe Thornton. He renewed his contract with the Blues that year and remained with them till 2013 when he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Magnus Paajarvi.
The Oilers sold David to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Rob Klinkhammer in 2015. The next day, he made his debut appearance for the team scoring the only goal in a 4–1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. The following season Perron recorded one of his lowest points ever in the league and was soon traded alongside Adam Clendening to the Anaheim Ducks in 2016 in exchange for Carl Hagelin.
As a free agent from the Ducks, Perron in 2016 opted to return to his first club – St. Louis Blues. Back with the Blues, Perron recorded his third career hat trick and also scored 18 goals with 46 points appearing in every game with the Blues. However, in 2017, he left the Blues for the second time after he was left exposed and was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights at the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft. He is currently the alternate captain of the club.

In 2007, David Perron signed a 3-year entry level contract with the St Louis Blues, worth $2,755,000 with a basic salary of $875,000. At the expiration of the contract, he renewed his stay at the club by signing a two-year contract worth $4,300,000 with a base salary of $1,800,000 in the first year and 2,500,000 in the second year.
In 2012, he again signed a four-year, $15.25 million contract with the Blues and the base salaries were as follows: $3,000,000 in the first year, $3,500,000 in the second, $4,250,000 in the third and $4,500,000 in the fourth.
The last contract with St. Blues came in 2016, when he signed another two years contract with the club worth $7,500,000, with an annual salary of $3,750,000 for each of the years. As of 2018, the net worth of Vegas Golden Knights captain is estimated at $4.5 million.
