He is an American professional baseball right fielder for the Boston Red Sox of the MLB. He was born in 1992 on October 7 in Nashville Tennesse. Mookie Betts had a multi-sports upbringing but somehow, baseball stuck. His family is one that is quite competitive; they played basketball as well as held bowling competitions. His real name, Markus Lynn Betts was chosen by his parents to form the initials MLB and his nickname, Mookie also has a reference to sports. Shortly after he was born, his parents watched former NBA guard Mookie Blaylock play and liked his knack, thus, the ascription of the name to their son by his basketball fan mother who thought the name would be just perfect for her son. The Red Sox player, as such, prefers to be addressed by his nickname rather than by his real moniker.
Mookie is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Brianna Hammonds. The two have known each other since middle school and have been together since then. Brianna, born on August 7, 1994, graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2015.
