Gabriel Jesus is a professional soccer player who although is not among the oldest in the trade, has already started making a great name for himself. He plays as a forward in the English Premier League club (EPL) for Machester City FC as well as for the Brazilian National team. Gabriel Jesus Biography
The young forward was born Gabriel Fernando de Jesus in the Brazilian Municipality of São Paulo on 3 April 1997. While growing up like many other kids who loved football in his area, it was on the streets that he began playing.
Even though he began his football career as a midfielder, he would grow to turn himself into an attacker, taking advantage of his speed and creativity.
Apart from the streets, he also played on military prison field before he was picked up by a grassland football club, Anhanguera which sought out young talents. It was from there that he moved up the ladder of success as a footballer.
Family
Gabriel Jesus was raised by his mother alongside his 3 other siblings in a family that although was poor, still managed to be very united. In order to support her children, Vera Lucia Diniz de Jesus who is his mother sometimes did 3 jobs at a time. This was because his father abandoned the family when the kids were still very small, with Gabriel as the youngest.
For him, she is the best person in his life that as soon as he got the opportunity to move to England, he knew he was taking her along.
He has a brother whose name is Filipe, as well as another brother and a sister.
Football Career – Club
It was at the age of 13 that he joined his first youth club, Anhanguera. He remained with the club for 2 years before moving to the Palmeiras Youth Club in 2013.
He was given the opportunity to play for the club’s senior team in 2015. By the time he left the club for England in 2017, the star had already recorded 16 goals from 47 games.
Gabriel Jesus signed to play in the EPL in 2017 for Manchester City and by the time he was moving, he came along with his mother and a few others who were close to him, he would have loved to come along with his entire neighbourhood but it was not possible.
His move in a deal which was worth £27 million, saw the youngster who has been tipped for future success with his national team by Ronaldo de Lima making his debut on 21 January 2017. By the end of the 2017/2018 season with Manchester City, Jesus had 39 caps and 20 goals. In the final game of the season, he netted a goal that helped the team to improve upon their record by reaching 100 points.
Thus far, Jesus has won the Premier League title as well as the EFL title with the club both in 2018.
National Football Career
Gabriel Jesus first wore the Brazilian jersey in 2015 when he was invited to play for the Under-20 team. Having played 10 games, he was able to net in 2. In that same year, he was called to wear the Country’s under-23 jersey in which he has already played 11 games, scoring 5 goals.
He wore his first cap for the senior team in 2016. In his first game which was towards qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, he scored two goals and the Brazilian team beat Ecuador 3-0 in the away game.
During the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), he recorded 7 goals in 10 matches, placing him in the same spot as Lionel Messi.
At the 2016 summer Olympics played in Brazil, Gabriel Jesus was again invited to wear the country’s National colours. He helped the team to win the Gold medal after defeating Germany in the finals following a penalty shootout.
By the time he was invited for the biggest footballing event in Russia, he had already had fifteen games played and nine goals to his name.
