There she had her schooling in Loch Lomond Elementary School, Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax and finally, at St. Bonaventure University before she began her career as a journalist which she did for over eleven years before joining politics. Roem began to actively consider a gender transition from man to woman in 2012. In 2013, she openly came out as transgender and legally changed her name from “Dan” to “Danica” in 2015.
