Shahid Kapoor Biography (Age)

Shahid Kapoor was born on 25 February 1981 in New Delhi to Indian actor Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem an actress-dancer. Kapoor did not exactly have a smooth childhood as his parents got divorced when he was only three years old.

After the divorce, Shahid stayed back with his mother in New Delhi while his father moved to Mumbai and married Supriya Pathak in 1989. His mother Neelima also remarried twice after their separation, first to actor Rajesh Khattar and then an Indian classical vocalist Raza Ali Khan.

While in New Delhi, Kapoor also lived with his grandparents but at age ten, he eventually moved to Mumbai with his mother for greener pastures. Records have it that the Indian actor was a student of Gyan Bharati School. He also attended Rajhansh Vidyalaya in Mumbai before he moved on to attend Mithibai College of Mumbai.

Career

Shahid always had a passion for dancing at a very young age and as a teenager, he pursued his dreams by enrolling at the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts (SDIPA). While working as an advisor at the institute, he kicked off his career with appearances in music videos and advertisements.

Shahid appeared in his first commercial at the age of 11. After being spotted at an audition, he worked on a Pepsi commercial alongside Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, and Kajol. Kit-Kat, Close Up, Onida, Ala Bleach, Fuji Film, and Clinic All Clear are a few other brands he has appeared in their advertisements. He also starred in a music video for the band Aryans where he met his college sweetheart Hrishita Bhatt.

His Bollywood debut was a lead role which got him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He received several thumbs up for his performance in the 2003 romantic comedy film Ishq Vishk. Some of the multiple awards he won for the hit movie include IIFA Awards: Best Male Debut, Stardust Awards: Superstar of Tomorrow – Male, Hero Honda Star Screen Awards: Star Screen Award Most Promising Newcomer – Male, Sansui Awards: Best Male Debut, Zee Cine Awards: Best Male Debut. He is also a recipient of the Blistex Awards: Blistex Best Lips – Male (2005), and Sports World Awards: Jodi of the Year for Vivah.

His roles in Jab We Met and Kaminey earned him a nomination in the Filmfare Best Actor Award category. He has also won the Best Actor award for Haider and 60th Filmfare Awards for Best Actor Male. More recently, Shahid featured in the movie Padmaavat, a performance that won him the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award for Best Actor. He remains one of the most popular Bollywood stars.

It is known that Shahid has two brothers Ishaan Khattar and Ruhaan Kapoor. They are not the only siblings he has, the actor is equally a brother to a sister called Sanah Kapoor.

In June 2015, Shahid surprised many when he tied the knot with Mira Rajput, a Delhi-based girl, who is 14 years younger than him. Mira was at the time, a student at Lady Shriram College, Delhi University. The happily married couple welcomed their first child Misha in August 2016 and are expecting their second baby.
