Barbara Joan Streisand was born on April 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. She has described her early childhood as painful. Barbra’s dad died when she was just 15 months old, leaving her mom who had a meagre paying job to cater to the family which included her brother.
Barbra never allowed the difficulties at home to affect her academics. From elementary school, she was an outstanding pupil. She attended Erasmus Hall High School graduating in 1959 as the 4th in her class.
