Excessive drinking has been known to bring an untimely end to beautiful lives and careers. Most people who drink to stupor have confessed that getting out of the habit is even as difficult as getting clean after involving in hard drugs. Nevertheless, the reverse is the case with actor, comedian and director Craig Ferguson who dropped out of high school because of excessive drinking but was able to get to the peak of his chosen career after he managed to curb his drinking habit with the help of a 12-step recovery program.

His Bio
Craig was born to Robert and Janet Ferguson, on the 17th day of May 1962 in Stobhill Hospital in the Springburn area of Glasgow. He was born as a Scottish Presbyterian. He was raised in nearby Cumbernauld along with his three siblings, two sisters and a brother. The effect of the world war II made his family move from their Springburn home to a council accommodation in Cumbernauld when he was six months old. His early life was not rosy, his father Robert Ferguson was an ordinary postal worker who struggled to raise him along with his siblings.
He was naturalized as a United States citizen in 2008. His early education was achieved at Muirfield Primary School and later at Cumbernauld High School which he left at the age of sixteen for reasons related to alcohol. Craig became a trainee electronics technician at a local factory of American company Burroughs Corporation. In 1975, he visited the United States for the first time, he went to visit an uncle who lived on Long Island close to New York City. He later relocated to the Big Apple where he got a job in construction and later worked as a bouncer at the nightclub Save The Robots.
Craig spent a few years drumming in punk bands in the early 1980s. He was able to meet Michael Boyd, the artistic director of the Tron Theatre through a bartending job and it was Boyd who convinced Craig to take a shot at acting. For Craig, the attraction that acting held was too strong to be ignored and thus, he was hooked on entertainment for life.
Although his career started in Britain with music, theatre and comedy, he moved into films and television shows when he relocated to the United States. There, he appeared as Nigel Wick on the ABC sitcom The Drew Carey Show which lasted for 8 years (1996–2004). Since then, Craig has played the lead in three films and directed one. He has made appearances in several others plus many voice-over roles for animations. Writing is also one of his skills; he has two books to his credit: Between the Bridge and The River, (novel) and American on Purpose, (memoir). He became a citizen of the USA by naturalization in 2008.
Also, Craig Ferguson has made appearances as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Lenon, The Late Show with David Letterman, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Late Night with Conan OBrien, Rachael Ray, Real Time with Bill Maher, The Howard Stern Show, The View, Loveline, The Daily Show The Soup, The Talk, The Dennis Miller Show and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and many others. Craig did a live co-host with Regis Kelly and Kelly Ripa. He also appeared as a guest host on the episode of The Price Is Right shown on April fool’s Day of 2014 and also made an appearance in an episode of We Love You.

Craig’s love life has been an active one, his first marriage lasted for three years. He got married to Anne Hogarth in 1983 and by 1986 the couple got divorced. The actor was single for a long time after his first marriage hit the rocks, so long that his fans were already beginning to believe that he may not get married again when suddenly, he surprised everybody with his marriage to Sascha Corwin. The couple was blessed with one child Milo Hamish Ferguson born in 2001.
Like the first, Craig’s second marriage still ended in divorce and he went into a third marriage with Megan Wallace-Cunningham in 2008. Megan’s is a well-known name in the art world and the celebrity couple is still living happily together. They have a son together – Liam James who Craig was proud to announce his birth in 2011.
