Kelly Monaco gained fame as a model, actress, and reality TV star. She is best known for her role in the ABC soap opera, General Hospital, in which she portrays Sam McCall. The actress is also popular for her appearance in the ABC series Port Charles, where she portrayed the role of Livvie Locke from 1997 to 2003. More so, as a reality star, she is recognized as the winner of the first season of Dancing With the Stars.

1. She is from a Pretty Large Family
Monaco was raised in a family of five children by her parents – Albert “Al” and Camina Monaco, who was a skateboarder and now a figure skating instructor. The model is the third of the siblings, including two older sisters – Marissa Monaco and Amber Monaco. Her other two sisters are Christine Monaco and Carmina Monaco.
Her family would later move to Poconos, which became significant in her development as an actress, something she started while attending Pocono Mountain High School from where she moved to Northampton Community College.
2. She is More Than Just a Model
After she was through with her high school education, Kelly, who had learned skating from her once Olympic hopeful mother, worked as a lifeguard. What she wanted to do mainly, however, was modeling and so she sent her photo to Playboy in 1996. By April of the next year, she was named the model of the month.
Monaco got her professional start as an actress, making her debut appearance on the TV series, Baywatch in 1997. The drama series ran until 1998. She also featured in other productions, including BASEketball and Mumford, as well as Idle Hands. It was until 2003 that she got her defining and most popular role of Samantha McCall in the ABC soap opera, General Hospital.
She was also in Port Charles – another ABC soap opera, in which she portrayed Olivia “Livvie” Locke Morley. Her roles in the two productions earned her the Daytime Emmy Award nominations for both Outstanding Supporting Actress (Port Charles) and Outstanding Lead Actress (General Hospital).
Beyond modeling and acting, she was the co-hosts of the thirty-third Annual Daytime Emmys alongside Tom Bergeron in 2006, and then she was selected by Donald Trump and Paula Shugart to serve among the judges of the Miss USA Pageant in 2009.
3. Kelly Monaco Had An Amazing Love Life That Went Sour
The beautiful Kelly Monaco was still in high school when she met a man she believed was the love of her life, Mike Gonzalez. The two remained together even after high school and took jobs together as lifeguards before they went to the same college.
The only thing that was supposed to be more beautiful than their lives together was a happy ever after story. However, it was not to be as after 18 years of being together, they parted ways in 2009. As of 2011, Monaco was said to still be grieving the breakup.
4. She Has Since Moved On
Even though it is stated that she was still yet to get past Oliver even into 2011, she had already started dating other men before then. She got into a relationship with American actor Heath Freeman in 2010. The pair remained together until two years later when they parted ways.
It was later rumored that she was in a relationship with her Dancing with the Stars partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. But then, it later emerged that there was nothing between the two. She is currently in a relationship with General Hospital co-star Billy Miller. After years of media speculations that the two might be dating, they put everything to rest by confirming it in 2018.
5. The Actress is Quite Rich and She is Involved in Charity
She has been involved in a lot of things in the past in the showbiz. It is thanks to all these that Kelly Monaco has a net worth estimated to be around $4 million. Beyond just making money, she is also involved in giving out. In July 2009, Monaco – together with other celebrities – traveled to Kenya in Africa as part of a programme aimed at feeding children.
They took food, supplies and other resources to children in orphanages. The program was sponsored by Feed the Children. Monaco also volunteered on 24 October 2009, alongside some of her colleagues from General Hospital, to help redesign and glamorize an old school in Los Angeles, as part of the iParticipate campaign.
