However, the talented player went undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft but was ultimately signed by the Buffalo Bills in 2012. After 3 seasons with the Bills, Hogan joined the New England Patriots and in 2017, he helped the Patriots to victory at Super Bowl LI.
Chris Hogan Bio
Christopher James Hogan was born in the year 1988 on the 24th day of October in Bergen County, New Jersey. He schooled at Ramapo High School where as a two-sport athlete, he lettered in football and lacrosse. Among other highlights of his high school career, Hogan was named a first-team All-New Jersey lacrosse player in his junior year. He also received all-state first team honors in both football and lacrosse in his senior year.
For college, Chris Hogan was recruited to the Pennsylvania State University as a lacrosse player and there, he played 4 seasons and ultimately graduated in 2010. With just one year of college eligibility left for him, Hogan opted to give one final shot at football and thus he enrolled at the Monmouth Hawks football program of Monmouth University.
Thanks to his natural talents, Hogan swiftly secured a spot on the Hawk’s roster during his one-season spell with the team. He played in the receiver and cornerback positions and he recorded 12 receptions for 147 yards and 3 touchdowns on offense in addition to 28 tackles and 3 interceptions on defense.
Chris Hogan’s professional career started off on a rather rough note. After going undrafted in 2011, he got signed by the San Francisco 49ers, the New York Giants, and the Miami Dolphins but was unable to pin a long-term contract with any of the teams. Hogan ultimately began his NFL career with the Buffalo Bills in 2012. He was promoted to the Bills’ active roster on December 18, 2012, after spending about a month with the team’s practice squad.
Career Stats and Injury Update
As a rookie in the 2013 NFL season, he featured in all 16 games with no start and he caught 10 passes for 83 yards. He had a much better performance in the 2014 season as he posted 41 receptions for 426 yards and 4 touchdowns in 16 appearances and 2 starts. The 2015 season was Hogan’s last with the Bills and he finished the season with 36 receptions for a career-high 450 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Hogan joined the New England Patriots in March 2016 on a three-year contract. The NFL star had a spectacular 2016 season with the Patriots. He started in all but one of his 15 appearances for 2016 and he ended the season with 38 receptions for a career-best 680 yards and 4 touchdowns. The talented player also had a great performance in the postseason and on February 5, 2017, he recorded four receptions for 57 yards as the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Hawks to clinch the Super Bowl LI.
Chris Hogan put up a great performance for the Patriots in the 2017 season though his playing time was greatly reduced owing to an injury. He finished the season with 34 receptions for 439 yards and a career-high 5 touchdowns in 9 total appearances. He helped the Patriots reach the Superbowl for the second season in a row though they were ultimately overpowered by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hogan had a pretty good start to the 2018 NFL season, he hopes to extend his stay with the Patriots beyond his initial 3-year contract.
Unlike the 2017 season in which he was sidelined with an injury for about 7 games, Chris Hogan has enjoyed a relatively clean bill of health in the 2018 NFL season. The NFL star missed out on practice in October 2018 after suffering a thigh injury, however, he recovered in time for the Patriots’ Week 6 matchup against Kansas City. Apparently, Hogan’s future in the NFL depends greatly on his performance and consistency, seeing that he is not prone to injuries.
Family Life of the NFL Player
Chris Hogan is married to his college sweetheart Ashley Boccio who is a physician. The duo met during their days as students at the Pennsylvania State University. Interestingly, they were both lacrosse players at the time until Hogan transferred to Monmouth University to play football.
Despite the distance and the challenges of their individual careers, this couple has remained inseparable ever since. Hogan and Boccio got engaged in July 2014 and 3 years later, they tied the knot; this was on 1st July 2017. They have 2 kids together, twin boys Chase and Parker born in March 2017.
