Josip Stanisic’s Bio, Age
Josip Stanii (born April 2, 2000) is a Croatian footballer who now plays as a defender for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the Croatia national team. He primarily plays as a right-back, but he can also play as a center-back.
Josip Stanisic’s Career
Stanii began his career in the youth teams of TSV 1860 Munich, then in the second level, where he remained until the summer of 2015. As a 15-year-old, the transformation occurred in front of the gates of the state capital while playing for the SC Fürstenfeldbruck U16s in the then-sixth tier. He was a standout performance for the club’s younger B-Juniors from the outset, contributing to the Bruckers’ status as one of the top two teams in the B-Junior District League, alongside 1. FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as the team’s second-best goalscorer.
He was promoted to the U17 in May 2016, when he was just 16 years old and was one of the top performers. With two goals in the final eight games of the season, the U17 of SC Fürstenfeldbruck was promoted from the regional league to the state league, in the junior B division, which is the third-highest division after the Bundesliga and Bayernliga. In the regional league, the Croatian had a regular spot in the team, which only lost out on the Bayern league at the end of the season. Stanisic was no longer there at this moment, though, as FC Bayern Munich had discovered him in the meanwhile and signed him for their U17s in January 2017. Stanii suffered an ankle fracture in preparation for the second half of the season in Munich and was forced to sit out the rest of the season. As a result, he was unable to win the German B-Junior Championship.
Stanii spent the summer of 2018 with FC Bayern’s professional team, where he participated in preseason training and two games in Klagenfurt and Philadelphia. Stanzi, on the other hand, continued to play with the A-Juniors in his second season, becoming the new team captain. He had to have a groin procedure in January and was out for several weeks. The club also missed the last round of the German championship that season, finishing fourth clearly, and the two cup competitions concluded early.
Stanii made his professional debut for Bayern Munich II in the 3. Liga on July 26, 2019, when he came on as a half-time substitute for Angelo Mayer in a 2–1 win over KFC Uerdingen at home.
On 10 April 2021, he made his Bundesliga debut for Bayern Munich, starting as a left-back in a 1–1 draw against Union Berlin. Stanii signed a professional contract with Bayern Munich until 2023 July 1, 2021. Despite the fact that Stanii was supposed to be sent on loan to Heidenheim after impressing Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann during the preseason, he stayed with the senior team.
On the first day of the Bundesliga, August 13, 2021, he was picked to the starting eleven as a right defender as Bayern drew 1–1 with Borussia Mönchengladbach. He was back in the starting lineup four days later, when Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 3–1 to win the DFL-Supercup. Stanii made his Champions League debut in a 3–0 win over Barcelona on September 14, coming off the bench in the 82nd minute to replace Niklas Süle. Stanii’s contract at Bayern was extended until 2025 on October 15, 2021.
Stanii began his career with TSV 1860 Munich’s youth teams, then moved up to the second division, where he stayed until the summer of 2015. While playing for the SC Fürstenfeldbruck U16s in the then-sixth tier, the metamorphosis took place in front of the gates of the state capital when he was 15 years old. As the team’s second-best goalscorer, he was a prominent performer for the club’s younger B-Juniors from the start, contributing to the Bruckers’ standing as one of the top two teams in the B-Junior District League, alongside 1. FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Josip Stanisic’s International Career
Stanii is a dual citizen of Germany and Croatia. Stanii was called up to the Croatia U21 team by Igor Bian on August 23, 2021, for the forthcoming UEFA Under-21 Euro 2023 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Finland, despite previously playing for Germany U19. However, due to an injury, he was unable to make his debut. Zlatko Dali quickly promoted Stanii to the senior Croatia team for the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Slovakia on September 20. He made his debut in a 3–0 win over his former opponent on October 8, and was named to the starting lineup.
