Ram Charan is a Bollywood actor who was born on March 27, 1985, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in India. His birth name is Konidela Ram Charan Tej and his parents are Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad (father) and Surekha Konidela (mother). His father is a politician but was also an actor and he is widely known by the stage name “Chiranjeevi.” Charan’s family is a small one; he has two siblings – an elder sister named Sushmita and a younger sister named Srija.
Coming for a stable family, he had the privilege of acquiring education. He obtained his primary school education at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School, Chennai but did not complete his high school education which he started in Ooty.
Career
Charan’s acting career began in Tollywood, the arm of Bollywood that produces movies in the Telugu language. He launched out in 2007 when he made his debut appearance (film) in the Puri Jagannadh’s movie Chirutha where he played the lead role. His character in the film also bore his real name Charan and he portrayed an ex-convict with a vendetta against the man who had killed his father. Although it was his first film, he received two awards – Filmfare Best South Debutant Award and the Nandi Special Jury Award – for his outstanding performance in the movie.
He continued appearing in different commercially successful films from then on and his performances were top-notch. He moved on to Bollywood where he has featured alongside other big Indian movie stars such as . The two stars acted in action drama film Zanjeer (2013) and that marked Charan’s Bollywood debut.

Ram Charan may deny this and have always sought to carve out his own niche for himself (which he has succeeded in doing to an extent), but being the only son of a successful father in a particular line of business which you are also venturing into has its burden. Like has been mentioned before, Ram Charan’s father is an accomplished movie star in Bollywood. Popularly known by his stage name Chiranjeevi, the superstar actor now turned politician really paved the way for his son to have a smooth ride in the country’s entertainment industry.
He featured in his first film in 1978 after graduating from the Madras Film Institute and working in a number of cinemas and film houses. His first film was Punadhirallu (1978) and since then, he has featured in about 150 Indian movies in an acting career that spanned thirty-nine years, where he has consistently interpreted several roles and shown his dancing (breakdance) prowess.
For his effort in the industry, he went home with four state Nandi Awards and was also given an honorary doctorate degree from Andhra University. He was decorated with India’s third highest civilian award – Padma Bhushan – in 2006 and has been recognized as one of the men who moved the Indian movie industry – Bollywood – to what it is today. Apart from being a former actor and politician, Chiranjeevi runs a self-styled charitable foundation and also has a vested interest in the Indian Super League (ISL) as he is part owner of the Kerala Blasters, a football team which plays in the ISL.
Chiranjeevi’s pilgrim into Indian politics saw him form a political party – Praja Rajyam Party – in 2008 and contested under its platform in the country’s 2009 elections when he ran for a political office which he lost to the candidate of the Congress Party. However, he would be elected as a member representing the Tirupati constituency in the State Assembly.
Other members of Ram Charan’s family are his mother, Surekha Konidela, his sisters, Sushmita (elder sister) and Srija (younger sister). He has popular uncles named Nagendra Babu, Pawan Kalyan, and Allu Aravind and his grandfather is Allu Rama Lingaiah.

Ram Charan is married to an equally very popular family in India. The handsome actor got hooked off the market by Upasana Kamineni, who he had been dating for a long time. The couple was engaged on the 1st of December 2011 and eventually got hitched on the 14th of June 2012 in a farmhouse in Chennai, owned by his bride’s grandfather – Temple Trees Farm House.
Upasana Kamineni’s grandfather is Prathap C. Reddy, the chairman of the Apollo Hospitals Group. She doubles as both the chief editor of B Positive magazine, in Hyderabad and the vice-chairman of one of her grandfather’s growing concerns – Apollo Charity.
