Columbus Short is an actor, hot stepper, and singer. His choreography skills have been deployed in a handful of movies most notably, Save the Last Dance 2 and 2007’s Stomp the Yard. His most recent notable role was that of Harrison Wright in Scandal. Personal issues have come to plague his career in recent years making him less visible but the actor isn’t giving up just yet as he fights back every time life puts him down. Columbus Short’s Bio (Age)
Short was born Columbus Keith Short, Jr. on the 19th of September 1982, in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents have two other sons John Rancipher and Chris Staples. Short was born with entertainment in his genes and from the age of 3, those genes became evident by Short’s love for entertaining his relatives either by impersonation, dancing or making silly jokes.
At 5 years old, Short’s family relocated to LA where his mom began working as a talent manager. Short would then begin honing his entertainment skills at a youth theater. He also attended Orange County High School of the Arts and later joined the Broadway tour of Stomp, a UK percussion group.
In 2004, Short began his acting career playing the small role of a dancer in You Got Served. The following year, he made his small screen debut with roles in ER, Judging Amy and That’s So Raven. Columbus Short would go on to have more success in film with roles in Stomp the Yard, Cadillac Records, The Losers and others.
Family, Wife
Columbus Short has had it very rough in his romantic life. For years now, the actor has been plagued by divorce drama stemming from his occasional domestic abuse on his lovers.
The actor was first married at an unknown time to a certain Brandi Short and they were divorced by 2003, a time when he had not surfaced in the entertainment industry. They had one daughter named Ayala. Two years after that divorce, Short wedded dancer Tanee McCall.
They remained together until 2013 when she filed for divorce. The couple seemed to have worked it out shortly after as no news about the divorce was heard until April 2014 when Short’s bad behavior pushed her to file for a split a second time. According to her filing, Short threatened to kill her and himself. She also got a restraining order against him.
The actor admitted to physically assaulting his wife and faced jail time, however, he escaped by pleading guilty. In order to avoid jail time, Short also pleaded no contest to a felony assault charge for punching a man at an LA restaurant in September 2015. For his punishment, he was sentenced to a three-year probation including two months of community labor and anger management counseling.
Short found love again in Aida Abramyan and married her in 2017. However, he didn’t quite get his bad behavior together as reports surfaced that he had physically attacked her in November 2017, a few weeks after their wedding. His wife Aida would come to refute the claims via social media.
For violating his probation, Short was sentenced to 1 year behind bars. He served 34 days of his jail term before being released. Columbus Short has three kids from three different women, being his 3 wives including the current one Aida Abramyam.

Personal issues have greatly plagued Short’s career but the actor keeps keeping on. He reportedly lost his role as Harrison Wright on ‘ Scandal due to substance abuse… Short’s career came to a brief standstill following that short jail time, however, things are different now.
As many of his fans love to put it “Short is Back.” He has gone back to booking gigs as well as producing his own films under his Great Picture Show. in October 2018 exclusively reported that Short is working on several film projects with Dame Dash Studios. Dame Dash told Vogue that their new project was focused on highlighting new and honest stories yet untold. Some of the film projects include; The List, A Shot For Justice and Black Dots.
