On the 20th of October, 1965, in New York City, New York, Nancy (Heimert) and her husband Stanley William Zabka welcomed their son, William Michael Zabka. Zabka’s mother was a business liaison, producer, and production assistant, while his father was a director who famously worked for a period of time as an assistant director of The Tonight Show Starring before moving to production management, writing and composing.
From a very young age, due to his parents work, Zabka studied to become an actor. When the family relocated to California, he attended California State University as he made his acting debut at the age of 18 in an episode of The Greatest American Hero (1983). A year later, he caught his big break as he played the main antagonist role of Johnny Lawrence in The Karate Kid (1984). his performance in the movie propelled him to great heights as he was nominated for the Best Young Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture Musical, Comedy, Adventure or Drama at the 985 Young Artist Award.
In the coming years, Zabka grew a reputation for playing antagonist/class bully roles as he starred in movies like Just One of the Guys (1985), National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1985), Back to School (1986), and the sequel to his first hit film, The Karate Kid part II (1986).
