In the media circle, it is as Rece Davis that the TV journalist is known. However, it was as William Laurece Davis that he was born on December 14, 1965, in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
When he was in high school, Davis was an athlete. He played as a quarterback and shooting guard for his high school’s football and basketball teams respectively. Even though he was one of the fastest in the team and the tallest, he didn’t make a career out of it. In addition, he also played basketball for Muscle Shoals.
The only thing he did better than playing sports was recounting and telling what happened on the field. This made it evident pretty early that his mind was more with the media than even with being a sportsperson.
After high school, he proceeded to the University of Alabama where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast News and Public Affairs in 1988. Even before his graduation, he started working as a radio personality.
He also worked at WCFT-TV. He then worked with WRBL-TV for five years before going to work for the same station in Flint, Michigan for two years.
Within his short stay at Flint, he had started attracting the interest of many media outfits but he ended up choosing ESPN.

Rece Davis is a family man. He has been married to Leigh Langley Davis since 1993. The first time that the couple met was when they were both working at WRBL-TV.
Although the exact date of her birth is not known, it is known that she was raised in Columbus, Georgia. And she got her education from Columbus High School and graduated in 1979. From there, she moved to Auburn University. Later, she went to work for the ABC-affiliated TV station which was not only her dream job, but it also became where she met the man who would later become her husband- her dream man.
Looking for an excuse to talk to Leigh who worked as a sales representative at the station, he walked up to her and pretended he had no idea how to use the fax machine and so he asked for her help. One thing led to another and the two became lovers in no time.
After dating for some time, Rece went on one knee in August 1993 and then by December, they were already man and wife. More than 25 years into their union, the two have been blessed with two kids Chris and Elizabeth.
