She is talented, interesting, and probably one of the most popular journalists on TV; and her name is Suzanne Malveaux. She came to be known for her work on Cable News Network (CNN) as a national correspondent.

Beyond being an award-winning journalist, Suzanne is one of the most talked-about media personality on one hand because of her buzzing career and on the other because her sexual orientation and personal life have remained unknown, opening doors for unending speculations.

Professionally, she is recognized for promoting the welfare of others including her efforts to generate awareness and promote scientific inquiry for Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). In 2013, she landed a Gracie Award for her ALS series after which the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University appreciated her for covering what was described as one of the top 50 stories of the Century.

The Family Life of Suzanne Malveaux

The media personality was born into the family of Myrna Maria Ruiz and Floyd J. Malveaux as Suzanne Maria Malveaux on 4 December 1966 in New Orleans. She is of mixed descent; African, Spanish and French.

Suzanne was still a young girl when her family moved to Howard County, Maryland from New Orleans. She then attended Centennial High School located in Ellicott. From there, Suzanne went to Harvard University where she earned a degree in Sociology and then she went to Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and obtained a Master’s degree in Journalism.

Her father is a well-versed individual who has worked at Howard University as the former dean of the College of Medicine before now working as Merck Childhood Asthma Network’s executive director. He also founded the National Human Genome Center of Howard University. While her mother, Myrna Maria Ruiz, was not so much popular, she has also worked in the academic line as a childhood educator before she retired.

For quite some time, her mother battled with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This became one of the main motivations for the CNN woman to keep trying to create awareness around the disease which affects the neuromuscular system. Unfortunately, her mother died in her sleep on April 13, 2018. She was 79 years old at the time of her death.

Suzanne Malveaux was not raised as an only child; she has three siblings. Her first sibling is Suzette M. Malveaux who is her twin sister. Not surprising, Suzette decided to follow the same path as her parents by towing the academic line. She is a professor of law and she worked with the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America as an associate dean of academic affairs. She has gained national recognition for her civil rights activism. She now works at the University of Colorado Law School’s Byron R. White Center as a director.

The other siblings of the CNN correspondent are Courtney and Greg Malveaux who are less popular compared to the other members of the family. However, it is known, however, that Courtney is the Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry while Gregory did not leave the academic line set by his parents as he works at Montgomery College as an associate professor of English.

On her own, Suzanne is yet to start her own family, although she has a daughter she adopted in 2015. There is no so much information that is provided on the daughter except that she was newly born when Suzanne adopted her.

Is She Gay?

More than half a century years old, Suzanne Malveaux does not have a husband and has never been married in the past. What is more, her relationship life has not been very clear to a lot of people in the past which has made many assume that she is probably gay.

In addition to this, she has never come out to address issues bothering on her sexual orientation even though many other gay media personalities including CNN’s Richard Quest and Anderson Cooper have come out of the closet. This has also made many fans to wonder if she will soon come out to address the speculation.

The adoption of her daughter in 2015 also helped to stoke the flames regarding her sexuality. However, the journalist has been very much in love with her career to indicate anything about her love life. As it stands, her sexual orientation isn’t known and she has never openly dated anyone in the past.
