Aida Nikolaychuk Bio

Aida Nikolaychuk was born on March 3, 1982, in Odessa, Ukraine, back when it was still part of the Soviet Union. Growing up, she was always interested in the arts, with a special interest in drawing and music. As a result, she was always front and center on the counts of both these interests. As early as the first grade, Aida joined her school choir and quickly rose to become the undisputed soloist for the group. In 2002, while in college, she attended an audition for a hip-hop group and was selected as a backup singer.

Although X-Factor was not her first time auditioning in front of a panel of judges, it was the first platform that brought her fame. Her first audition for the talent competition came in 2011 when she tried out for a place in its second season. Such was her resolve that she had to quit her job to be able to attend the auditions.

Unfortunately, Aida Nikolaychuk didn’t get as far as she would have loved in the competition, her performances, especially in the auditions did garner some traction in terms of online viewership. This motivated her to continue to try out for the show. Next, she participated in the second season of X-Factor Online, and this time she made it to the final run where she became the winner of the competition. Her win gained her automatic entry into the third season of the original show in 2012, circumventing the audition phase. This time she out sang her opponents all the way to finals where she was announced as the winner of the third season on January 5, 2013.

This win made her even more famous and opened more opportunities for the singer. She began to take speaking engagements and television appearances while working on her music. While videos of her singing were going viral online, Aida Nikolaychuk penned a deal with Sony Music and released her first single with an accompanying music video. The song was titled “On Your Planet” and was released on May 27, 2013.

She ended up releasing a total of five singles for the collaborative album We Are Under One Sky in 2013. Nikolaychuk followed this up on December 14, 2013, with her first solo studio album My Pod Odnim Nebom. She was nominated for a YUNA-2013 Music Award two days later in the category of Discovery of the Year and was recognized as the Female Singer of the Year at the “Favorites of Success – 2013” national poll. She terminated her contract with Sony the following year but still spends most of her time touring Russia and her home country Ukraine.

As Nikolaychuk recalls, she was quick to accept when he proposed to her. Although she would have preferred a lavish wedding, she couldn’t seem to find the time from their schedule, so they opted for a quiet wedding. She hasn’t changed her last name though because has already grown into a brand.
