Like Alex Turner, who was born like any other child in High Green, Sheffield, South Yorkshire in England on the 6th of January 1986. He is the only child that was born to his parents, Penny and David Turner, who were at the time, local secondary school workers. Nothing about his birth and upbringing suggested that he would go on to become one of the greatest living singers on the planet.

Alex Turner’s excellence and passion for music were not without cause. Through his parents, who were passionate music lovers, he got introduced to some of the biggest musicians that existed at the time. From to The Carpenters to Led Zeppelin, Alex Turner, with the push of his parents, consumed them all. By the time he was 10 years old, he had mastered the piano.

Although he was not one to take academics very seriously, so much that his mother thought he might fail out, school was a blessing to Alex. Not only did he meet and make friends with those who would later become members of his band, , he also studied music technology and media studies, which have been an influential knowledge for his career. The band, Arctic Monkeys was formed in 2002, with members Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Nicholson and Jamie Cook. Before the band decided to play a gig, they rehearsed for a year, with Alex at the forefront of the band’s lyrics. Arctic Monkeys played its first show on the 13th of June 2003. Even though it wasn’t an immediate success, with the journey to fame taking two years as they climbed the stairs to stardom, the band has never looked back since its first gig.

For Alex Turner and the Arctic Monkeys, the game changed in 2005. After releasing their demo which featured songs like I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, which hit number one on the UK singles chart, they began to tour the country. Led by Alex Turner, the band featured at several venues and on newspapers, getting favorable reviews, including a The Independent review that described Alex as a nineteen-year-old with a commanding stage presence.

The band released its first album in 2006 titled Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. The album at the time of release became the fastest selling debut album in British music history. Since then, five more albums had been birthed successfully. Alex Turner, who is the brainchild of the group has gone on to work with other musicians, including another band, The Last Shadow Puppets he formed which has released two albums till date. He also released a solo project in 2011. Out of the nine albums he has released, eight of them have gone on to reach number one on the UK Album Chart.

So far in his career, he has garnered several awards from the Brit Awards, Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello Award.
