Ryan Arcidiacono is an Italian-American basketball player who plays the position of a Point guard/Shooting guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is one of the young lads in the league and a prodigy of Neshaminy High School and Villanova University where he honed his ball handling skills to be as polished as we have come to know; running the offense and ensuring that the ball gets distributed to his teammates at the right time.

Ryan, in every sense of basketball, has convincingly shown how special and productive he is and being that his career is still at its cradle, a lot more is yet to come from this Italian-American professional basketballer. As we watch him evolve into one of the greatest players of hoops on American soil, let’s take a tour of all you need to know about the young baller.

All You Need To Know About Ryan Arcidiacono

Birth and Early Life

Ryan was born on March 26, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and named Ryan Curran Arcidiacono afterwards. He is one of six children born to Joe and Patti Arcidiacono – former college students at Villanova University where his father – Joe played football as an offensive lineman. Ryan’s siblings are; Sabrina, Nicole, and Michael who are all older than him and his younger twin siblings; Christopher and Courtney.

As a kid who showed interest in basketball, his father had to install a makeshift hoop in their living room with which he practised shooting jump shots and hitting layups before venturing to play on basketball courts.

Education and Amateur Basketball Career

Arcidiacono schooled at Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, Pennsylvania where he played basketball under coach Jerry Devine. In his sophomore, the kid caught the attention of college basketball programs like Syracuse Orange, Florida Gators, Texas Longhorns and the Villanova men’s basketball team following his impressive performance at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions.

At the end of his high school career, Ryan Arcidiacono had a total of 1, 498 points, 449 rebounds with 378 assists, 178 steals, and 160 three-pointers. He was notably ranked among the top 50 seniors by ESPNU.

On such high notes, Ryan committed to play basketball with the University of Villanova Men’s Basketball team beginning in the year 2012 through 2016.

Ryan Arcidiacono was a standout college basketball player, starting from his freshman year through his sophomore, junior and senior years. He led his team to many victories in the course of the four seasons he shot hoops with them for which reason he got several awards and honors, including a listing in the Big East All-Rookie Team (2013), First-team All-Big East (2015), NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player and NCAA champion (2016).

NBA Draft

The Italian-American professional baller went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft after which he chose to join the San Antonio Spurs for the 2016 NBA Summer League. He was tossed to and fro before Austin Spurs acquired him, being an affiliate of San Antonio. In the 2017-18 season, Ryan was set to play for Italian team Juvecaserta Basket but following some wranglings which resulted in their being rejected to play in Serie A, he voided his contract with the Italian outfit and looked towards America.

The Chicago Bulls thought him to be a gold mine of basketball talent for which reason they offered him a two-way contract on July 25, 2017, which he gladly accepted. The terms of the contract saw him split time, playing between the main team and the Windy City Bulls, their G League affiliate.

His career stats proved promising as he played out the two-way contract and in appreciation for his services, the club handed him a standard contract on July 31, 2018. His new contract would run for one year and there are cogent reasons to believe that should he play up to expectation, Ryan would probably get a better offer from the club or elsewhere.

Body Measurements

Basketball is a game where the physical build and strength of a player plays a vital role on how they play on the court and of course, how long they would last, squaring things out with players of the opposing team. It is for this reason that young players like Ryan Arcidiacono pay particular attention to how they build their physique so as to always stay on top of their game. Ryan stands at 6 feet 3 inches and weighs 195 lbs. With the right exercise routine, he will no doubt stand his ground when making plays against opposing players that are physically bigger than him.
