Andy Reid has no doubt, contributed his quota to the development and advancement of the American football, working as a coach. He initially lent his expertise as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999 to 2012 and also functioned as the executive vice president of football operations for the Eagles. On record, he is credited to have led the Eagles to five National Football Conference (NFC) championship games and a Super Bowl appearance in 2004. He currently serves as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL).

Andy Reid’s Bio, Age

Andrew Walter Reid was born in Los Angeles, California, on the 19th of March 1958. As a young boy, though life wasn’t all that rosy for him and his family, he was a happy kid whose love and passion for football was his anchor. He was enrolled into the John Marshall High School and did well to work during holidays as a vendor. While in Los Angeles, Andrew took part in youth sports and he was lucky to have been coached by Pete Arbogast who was the former radio play-by-play man for the Cincinnati Bengals as well as a radio presenter for the “football “USC” football team.

In 1971, Andrew Reid was part of the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition which was televised live on the  he was 13 at the time. He later transferred to Glendale Community College where he also played football on the school’s team as an offensive tackle. Between the 1978 and 1980, he played the same position when he gained admission into the Brigham Young University, on the same team as the now famous “Jim McMahon.” Having completed all the requirements for  gaining a university degree, Andrew Reid graduated successfully in 1981.

Coaching Career

After his graduation from the University, Andrew Reid spent a whole year learning as an assistant on the football coaching team of the school. The following nine years would prove very valuable in his career as he worked as an offensive line coach with four different Universities which includes Northern Arizona University with the star player, Frank Pollack.

In 2013, Reid was offered a five-year contract to become the head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs which he accepted. Later in 2016, he would then go on to record his best regular season to date, this was after the face-off between the Chiefs and “Oakland Raiders” rivals, with a finish of 12-4 and clinching their division for the first time since 2010. In the following season (2017) Andy’s team had a strong start as they won their first game against the defending Super Bowl champion, “New England Patriots.” After this strong start, the team experienced a few set back as they lost six matches out of seven. Notwithstanding, they later earned a second consecutive AFC west title, which happened to be their very first back-to-back title in the history of the franchise.

Family: Wife And Son

Andy Reid is a happily married man who tied the knot in 1983 with his lovely wife, Tammy Reid, a physical education class teacher at BYU. Together, they have five wonderful children, sons which include; Garret Reid, Britt Reid and Spencer Reid; while their daughter’s names are; Crosby Reid and Drew Reid. Reid is quit a religious man as he and his family attends “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”

Tragedy struck Andy Reid and his family on the 5th of August 2012 when the first son of the family, Garret Reid, was confirmed dead. His body was found in his room at the Lehigh University’s training camp. After an autopsy was carried out on his remains, it was revealed that he could have died from an accidental heroin overdose.

With coach Reid, he seems to be getting in on the action as he is not doing badly, especially as a coach with such an impressive resume and accomplishments.
