Lightweight MMA fighter, Anthony Pettis, started his career in World Extreme Cagefighting in 2009 and became part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2010 with the merger between the UFC and the WEC. Anthony Paul Pettis was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the 27th of January, 1987, to Eugene Pettis Jnr and Annette Garcia. His father, Eugene, met his untimely death in a robbery attack on the 12th of November 2003. Anthony spent his formative years in the south side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his two brothers Ray and Sergio Pettis. The UFC fighter is of Mexican and Puerto-Rican descent but his grandfather Eugene Perez Changed their surname from Perez to Pettis to avoid unnecessary discrimination.

Anthony Pettis went to attend Dominican High School for his secondary education. The young athlete began boxing and taekwondo training at the tender age of five and took on wrestling during his college years. By the time he commenced his MMA training at the age of 18, he was already a 3rd-degree black belt holder in taekwondo. Anthony has also undergone training in capoeira.

In addition to his MMA career, Anthony Pettis also has a good instinct for business. In collaboration with his business partners Scott Joffe and Duke Roufus, he opened a Roufusport MMA Academy and Showtime Sports Bar in Milwaukee. He is also the owner of a barbershop, also located in Milwaukee.
