This talented journalist was born November 22, 1985, with birth name Antonietta González-Collins in Mexico City to mother María Antonieta Collins who was a powerhouse during her days as a journalist. Her mum is also known as an award-winning journalist and a writer who has about 7 best-selling books. Almost nothing is known about her biological father as her parents were said to have divorced sometime in 1992.

Her mum later married a naval architect by the name Fabio Fajardo who became her step-father but unfortunately, he died of kidney cancer in 2006. The journalist is said to have an older sister who apparently is her only sibling as no other siblings have been linked to her.

Antonietta’s childhood days were spent in Mexico City where she completed her high school education. Being an athlete, she was so good that she landed a spot on the Mexican U19 national soccer team. After high school, Antonietta gained admission into the University of Mount Union, Ohio, U.S.A where she majored in Communications.

The Beginning of Her ESPN Career

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Antonietta began her professional career in journalism after graduation in 2007 with her focus being on sports. As she has a flair for language – it is said that she has been bilingual right from age 9, it served as an advantage that helped her land her first job at Univision in Miami where she worked as a production assistant.

While she was working in Miami, she had the chance to work with top producers who produced programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro, Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. She later got an offer from CBS for the position of a sports reporter in one of its affiliates in St. Petersburg which she accepted.

When the lady moved to Texas in 2009, she worked with a Spanish Channel KNVO TV 48  and Fox news team as a news reporter, a sports and weather anchor. Antonietta has undoubtedly established herself as a fine sports journalist who has reported for Major League Baseball’s ALDS, ALCS and World Series, the Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason and Finals, FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars.

It was in 2013 that the outstanding journalist caught the attention of the popular ESPN network and by September that year, she was recruited as part of the digital team with her job description involving analyzing videos of sports news alongside anchoring sports news.

As her efficiency in performing her job increased, she was given more responsibilities which included enterprise reporting and interviews. Antonietta even served as a guest host for the show Baseball Tonight and anchored the Spanish show One Nación on ESPN Deportes. Currently, she is part of the team for morning line-up of Sportscenter which she joined back in February 2016.

As an ESPN staff, Antonietta is surely being paid well for her work as ESPN has a track record of paying its staff very well. Sources have it that the young lady earns about $200,000 per year but she has not revealed her net worth yet.
