Austin Carr Bio

Born on the 25th of December and in the year 1993, it is widely held that Austin Durant Mozee Carr has enough time to find a fine spot for himself in NFL’s history. According to records, Carr was born in Santa Monica, California which was equally where he was raised. While details of his upbringing are hard to come by, we can tell he was a student of Benicia High School where he excelled academically, in football, and other sports.

It is said that he was the school’s all-time scoring and rushing leader when he was set to move on to college. As a senior, Austin accumulated as much as 11 touchdown receptions with 844 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns for 1,481 rushing yards. This performance earned him a handful of prestigious recognitions including the All-Solano County Athletic Conference honors. Carr was equally honored as his team’s Most Valuable Player.

Education was important for Austin Carr, as a student of the Northwestern University, he majored in Philosophy and eventually obtained a bachelor’s degree in the field. Austin didn’t stop there as he went on to get a Masters degree in Management Studies from the university’s Kellogg School of Management.

Playing for the Wildcats of Northwestern University, Carr elevated from a walk-on to become the team’s captain and a consensus first-team All-Big Ten selection. In addition to that, he was honored as the Richter-Howard Big Ten Receiver of the Year (2016) and twice as a member of the Academic All-Big Ten. Among other attainments, he became the first player in Wildcats’ history to score a touchdown reception for the team in six consecutive games. In all, he featured in 36 games for the Northwestern football team, pulling off a total of 14 touchdowns and 133 receptions for 1,649 yards.

As fate would have it, the 2017 NFL Draft left Austin Carr as an undrafted free agent. But then, the New England Patriots came calling and eventually signed him sometime in May 2017. A few months later, precisely on 2nd September 2017, the Patriots waived him, handing the New Orleans Saints a chance to claim him the next day. As at the time of this writing, he has only played a few games professionally.

His Wife and Family

The Saints’ wide receiver parents – Evan Carr and Janine Mozee didn’t compel him to find a purpose in making music like them, they allowed him to choose his own path. Austin nurtured his interests in both fine arts and athletics but eventually decided to build a career in the latter.

As his parents are musically inclined, it comes as no surprise that he writes songs and even plays the piano during his leisure time. From what we learned, his father thrived as a drummer whereas his mum is a classically trained pianist.

Austin is married to Erica Carr and they are both passionate about their Christian faith. Like Austin, Erica is a graduate of Northwestern University where she obtained a degree in History and International Studies. She’s equally athletically inclined like her husband as she ran cross-country at Northwestern University. Austin once twitted that he married her because of her 100% willingness to train with him. He has equally proclaimed her his “homie” and “comforter” on Instagram, they got married sometime in July 2017.

Erica has been involved with the activities of Athletes in Action (AIA) since her college days. As Austin Carr’s NFL career compelled him and his wife to move to New Orleans, Louisiana following his commitment to the Saints, Erica has now found purpose in championing the activities of AIA at the universities in the area. AIA’s mission is to use sports as a platform to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and, the Carrs are eager to have the Holy Spirit transform live in New Orleans. We gathered that the wide receiver is even volunteering for New Orleans, Louisiana’s AIA as a leader of men’s discipleship.

Height, Weight, and Body Measurements

Beyond being a talented and skillful footballer, NFL players are expected to be physically fit with a good height and proportional weight. Austin has not been found wanting in this respect as he is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 195 lb. Other details of his body measurements are yet to be confirmed but his physique is rarely regarded as one of his weaknesses in the profession.
