The American actor was born in San Francisco, California, on December 16, 1963, as the third of five children. His mother, Eldy earned a living as a nurse and an activist while his father, Peter Bratt Sr. worked as a sheet metal worker. Bratt’s Ethnicity is quite an interesting combo as his father has English, German and Austrian ancestry while his mother belongs to the indigenous Quechua ethnic group. His passion for acting can be traced back to his grandfather, George Cleveland Bratt who was a Broadway actor.
After his parents called it quits on their marriage in September 1967, Bratt and his siblings grew up travelling between California and Alcatraz due to the nature of his mother’s job. Fortunately, the on-the-move lifestyle didn’t stop the actor from pursuing his academics which saw him attend the prestigious Lowell High School in San Francisco and later earned a B.F.A. at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1986. But, before he could finish his M.F.A. program at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, Bratt left to take up a role in the 1987 television film Juarez which became his debut film.
Hot on the heels of his debut in the industry came his first television series – Nasty Boys. Some of the films that pushed him into the limelight were Miss Congeniality, Blood In Blood Out and Traffic. Notably, most of his characters are Hispanic, perhaps, as a result of his looks.
