Bob Eubanks is an American media personality, who was very popular on both radio and television from 1960 to mid-2010s. In addition, he is also a disc jockey and TV host, known for anchoring very successful game shows like “The Newlyweds” – which he began hosting from 1966 to 1988. Bob Eubanks – Biography 

He was born Robert Leland Eubanks in Flint, Michigan in the United States on January 8, 1938. His dad John Otto Leland Eubanks, and mom, Gertrude Eubanks (nee McClure) are both Missouri natives but later relocated to Flint. However, Bob, who is the only child of his parents, spent most of his early years in Pasadena, California. This is because his parents later relocated from Flint to Pasadena.

As a child, Bob did a bit of modeling and posed for various ad campaign shoots. This afforded him the rare privilege of meeting his childhood hero – Gene Autry, and they did a photo shoot together. Bob listened to musical legends such as Frank Sinatra and also watched a lot of quiz game shows and classic television programs while growing up. He drew his inspiration from popular men on the screen including, Buddy Hacket and Gary Grant, just to mention a few.

Bob Eubanks was educated at Pasadena High School. Afterward, he got admission into Pierce College, Washington D.C. in the United States. Having been influenced by music and popular television shows while growing up, it was no surprise that Bob took to the entertainment industry after completing his academic studies.

Career – Movies and TV Shows

Bob Eubanks began his professional career in the 1960s as a disc jockey on KRLA 1110 in Los Angeles. He later switched to appearing on television and a few movies. His first experience in television production was to host a new game show titled The Newlyweds in 1966.

The show which was aired on the ABC network brought him to prominence as the youthful energy he brought along made it a hit. He was known for his knack for wittingly putting pressure on couples featured on the show to make hilarious mistakes. In 1976, Eubanks became the host of Tournament of Roses Parade show on KTLA channel in Los Angeles.

In 1992, he appeared on the very popular television show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in an episode, ‘Eyes on the Prize, where he hosted the game show Double Trouble. Later that year, he appeared on the very popular movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York where he starred as the host of a game show in the film. He featured as himself in an episode of Nickelodeon’s Kenan & Kel sitcom in 1999. In 2000, he made a guest appearance on That ’70s Show on the episode ‘Eric’s Stash.’

Eubanks served as the host of the Mrs. Intercontinental and Miss California USA beauty pageant shows from 2000 to 2003. He has made appearances in a few more television shows and game shows over the years.

 

Family Life – Wife, Kids

In 2004, Bob married his wife, Deborah James. They have been married for about 15 years now, and have a son, named Noah Eubanks. Deborah Eubanks (nee James) is an Events/Wedding coordinator, based in Ventura, California. She is the owner of her own company called Bella Vita Events. Bob confesses that his wife is a perfectionist.

In a jocular remark, he once said that when he gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, his wife would have impulsively remade their bed by the time he comes back to continue his sleep. Meanwhile, Deborah is Bob’s second wife; the disc jockey was married to his first wife Irma Brown in 1969 until her unfortunate death in 2002. Irma was an artist, ranch forewoman, and an enthusiastic athlete. They were married for 33 years and had 3 children together namely – Trace and Corey, and Theresa.

Bob Eubanks and his family are so fond of handling ropes and horse riding that they purchased a 20 Acre property from an operational cattle ranch and made it their own. They further purchased an additional 6 Acres, to make it 26 Acre property in total. Eubanks is a gold card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and enjoys spending time with his family at Rodeo shows.
