Brent Barry’s Bio, Age

Brent was born on December 31, 1971, to his parents in Hempstead, New York. He attended California’s De La Salle High School where he played to popularity in the school’s renowned basketball team. Graduating in 1990, he proceeded to Oregon State University where he played for the Beavers. By 1995 he was a full-fledged graduate with a degree in Sociology. Brent, who had basketball flowing in his veins, applied and was selected at the first round of the 1995 NBA draft by the renowned Denver Nuggets. His rights were soon traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Brent exceeded expectations in his first season with the Clippers as broke the rookie record with 123 3-pointers, a 10.4 ppg and 38% 3-pt average in 179 games. With his impressive skills, he won the 1999 Slam Dunk contest. His next move was to Miami Heat in 1998. Brent, who was traded for Isaac Austin, played only 17 games with the team throughout his one-year stay before moving to Chicago Bulls in January 1999 on a 6-year $27 million contract. However, after sustaining an injury, the player participated in 37 out of 50 games in that season before he was traded for Hersey Hawkins in August 1999 from Seattle.

Joining Seattle SuperSonics, Brent started out as a back up for  Gary Payton from Oregon State. Further developing his 3-point stroke, the renowned basketball player led the team to 3-point percentage all through the 2000/2001 season.

 

He moved to San Antonio Spurs in 2004 after he was signed as a free agent by the team. Brent helped the Spurs win the Denver Nuggets following their initial loss to the Nuggets during the 2005 NBA playoffs. At San Antonio Spurs, Barry made 1,888 points. After four seasons, he moved to Houston Rockets in 2008 on a 2-year contract before he retired in 2009.

After several years of dating, the high school sweethearts tied the knot in 1998 in a heartwarming wedding ceremony with friends and family present. However, 12 years later, things went sour between them. They filed for a divorce in 2010 and according to reports at the time, the divorce had reasons revolving around extramarital affairs which they both denied. Nevertheless, Erin and Barry finalized their divorce in 2011 and got joint custody of their two sons.
