Being an American football Linebacker, Brian Cushing is popular for his remarkable accomplishments during his time with the Texans which spans from 2009 to 2017. Among other attainments, he was the team’s all-time leading tackler.

Mr. Cushing has a host of awards and honors from both his professional and college career. Way back in 2011, he was listed as the 54th overall player of the NFL. Brian Cushing was born in Park Ridge, New Jersey on 24th January 1987. His mother (Antoinette Cushing) and father (Frank Cushing) were born in Germany and Bayonne, New Jersey respectively. He was raised together with his two siblings, a brother (Michael) and a sister (Michelle) in New Jersey.

As a child, Cushing trained in Park Ridge and led his high school team, the Crusaders, to victory in the 2004 Group IV State Championship. As he was very exceptional he was named North Jersey Player of the Year (2004).

Top colleges scurried to recruit the obviously-skilled Footballer but he settled for the University of Southern California. From 2005 to 2008, he played under Pete Carroll (Head Coach) in the USC Trojans football team as no.10 (which he shared with John David Booty till 2007). The Linebacker is one of the two players in the history of American college football to compete as a starter in the Rose Bowl in all the seasons of their college career.

In 2009, Cushing got drafted into the NFL and played till 2017 when he became a Free Agent. He won several awards and honors during the period of his professional career. Like most footballers, he suffered a lot of injuries during his career. The most recent was a partially torn medial collateral ligament on September 11, 2016. Luckily, this didn’t require surgery.

Cushing who reportedly has a history of substance abuse and performance-enhancing drugs since his college days got suspended for ten games by NFL for policy violation. After nine seasons with the Texans as an all-time leading tackler, he was released by the franchise on February 20th, 2018. The Vice Chairman of the Texans, Cal McNair, released a speech in which he said that Brian Cushing will always be a part of the Texans family.

Brian Cushing is married to Megan Ohai, his college sweetheart. They started dating before he got drafted to the NFL and got married in 2012. Brian and Megan have two sons together: Cayden Cushing (b. 2012) and Kai Cushing (b. 2014).

The couple is actively involved in the activities of their Houston community such as the fundraising efforts after the disaster caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

Brian has a very interesting family. He is a descendant of the Cushing brothers known for fighting in the American Civil War. Alonzo Cushing, one of the brothers, was awarded a Medal of Honor.

His brother, Michael Cushing, played Rugby during his time at Providence College earning in both his junior and senior seasons, First Team All-American Honors.
