Brian May was born on July 19, 1947, in a nursing home in Hampton Hill, Twickenham. He is the only child of Ruth Irving and Harold May. His father was English and his mother was Scottish. His zodiac sign according to his birthdate is Cancer. Brian has been married to Anita Dobson since 2000 and has three beautiful children between them.

At the age of 11, he went to Hampton Grammar School and a voluntary aided school. He attained ten GCE Ordinary Levels and three GCE Advanced Levels in Physics, Mathematics, and Applied Mathematics. He studied Mathematics and Physics at Imperial College London and graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Science degree in Physics in 1968 honours. In 2007, he was awarded a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College London for work started in 1971 and completed in 2007.

Brian May was in London Imperial College when he formed a rock band named smile. This decision made him focus on music more and he side-lined completing his PhD and focused on music more and when his Band’s lead vocalist Tim Staffell left, he met Freddie Mercury and started hitting the road with his band and renaming it “Queen”. The members were May performed as lead guitarist, vocalist, and occasional songwriter. The band’s lead vocalist, Freddie Mercury, also played the piano. John Deacon was on bass guitar, while Roger Taylor covered drums and vocals.

In 1973, after Queen signed with EMI Records, Queen released their self-titled debut album. With its fresh and unique sound, the group won over fans in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Later he and his bandmates released 14 more albums but then the tragic death of the Queen frontman Freddie Mercury put the whole world including May in shock. Then the bandmates parted ways till 2005 when Roger and May reunited for a tour with Paul Rodgers on vocals.

He then went back to complete his PhD in astrophysics at Imperial College in London which he had stopped to pursue his music career. In 2008, the first solo album of Queen and Paul Rodgers ” The Cosmos Rocks” was released before them splitting up. In 2011 Queen performed in MTV Europe Music Awards with Adam Lambert as well as at the closing ceremony of the Summer Olympics in London. In 2014, Brian May co-founded Asteroid Day which is an awareness program where people all around the world gather together to learn about asteroids and environment protection with Rusty Schweickart, Danica Remy and Grigorji Richters.

Brian May got married to Chrissie Mullen in 1974 and they parted ways in 1988 where the reason for the parting was he being in love with Anita Dobson. He had a son Jimmy May and two daughters Emily Ruth May and Louisa May with Chrissie Mullen. Finally, he got married to Anita Dobson in 2000 and the marriage is still going.
