Brock Holt is a professional baseball player in the MLB who runs with the Boston Red Sox. He turned professional after being picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. Brock Wyatt Holt was born on June 11, 1988, in Stephenville, Texas. His parents are GayLynn and Joel Holt and he grew up alongside 2 siblings; a sister Shelby and a brother Garrett. He had his high school education at Stephenville High School. Among several other highlights of his high school career, Holt was honored as the District 6-4A defensive player of the year in his junior year. He equally received all-district honors in his senior season.

Holt had the first two years of his college career at Navarro College before transferring to Rice University for his junior season. The talented player put up an impressive performance during his one-season stint with the Rice Owls baseball team. He finished the season with a batting average of .348 with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs in 59 appearances. He also had a team-best 67 runs scored as well as 11 stolen bases. For his outstanding performance, he was named to the All-NCAA Regional Team as well as the All-Silver Glove Trophy Series team.

Brock Holt turned professional in 2009 when he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 9th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. MLB Career

Brock Holt’s impressive performance in the minor leagues earned him a promotion to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ MLB roster in September 2012. He ultimately compiled a .292 batting average with one triple and 3 RBI in 24 appearances with the Pirates. The talented player was then traded to the Boston Red Sox in December 2012 in a multiplayer deal.

Displaying unmatched skill, he began the 2013 MLB season with the Pawtucket Red Sox, the triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox but was eventually promoted to the main roster on July 6, 2013. He played a total of 26 games for Boston in the 2013 MLB regular season and finished with a .203 batting average with 11 RBI. He got his first championship ring following the team’s victory at the 2013 World Series though he did not play in the championship.

Holt featured in nearly all playing positions for the Boston Red Sox team in the 2014 MLB season. In 106 appearances for the season, he batted .281 with 4 home runs and 29 RBI. For the 2015 season, he featured in 129 games and finished with a .280 average with 2 HR and 45 RBIs. He also received his first All-Star selection as he was named for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game.

For the 2016 regular season, Brock Holt played 74 games, hitting .255 with 7 home runs and 34 RBIs. For the 2017 season, the MLB star played only 64 games as he was sidelined for the greater part of the season. He recorded a .200 batting average with 7 RBIs but had a much better performance during the 2018 season as he compiled a .277 batting average with 7 home runs and 46 RBI.

In January 2018, Brock Holt signed a one-year contract extension with the Boston Red Sox valued at $2,225,000. The total value of the contract is guaranteed and thus the MLB star has a salary of $2,225,000 for the year 2018. This is an improvement from the $1,950,000 salary he earned in 2017.

Brock Holt has been married for several years to Lakyn Dawn Pennington, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pennington holds a degree in sports management and physical education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The couple tied the knot on November 9, 2013, in Indiana, Pennsylvania and welcomed their first child in December 2016, a son named Griffin Wyatt Holt.
